Saw this perfect bud in which the green hues and tones were very similar to the background bokeh grass by the canal, which is the bluish tints in the background. I have come to love Bokeh especially as I have said a hundred times before, when the Sun is shining at the particular angle, which on this occasion it wasn't so aggressive as I posted before, just simple natural light. Sometimes the beginning can be just as beautiful as the final result.
I hope everyone us well and as always, thank you! :)

The process of germination and growth of acorns offers profound insights into the very essence of life itself. From a tiny seed, a great tree may arise, representing the awe-inspiring potential for growth and transformation inherent in all living beings. The sprouting of the acorn into a seedling also highlights the delicate balance of environmental factors necessary for life to flourish, such as water, soil, and sunlight. Moreover, the process of growth can be seen as a reflection of the cyclical nature of existence, as the seedling transforms into a mature tree, which in turn produces its own acorns, perpetuating the cycle of life. Overall, the germination and growth of acorns offer a powerful reminder of the beauty and complexity of life and the interconnectedness of all things.

The Moorlands between Vejers Strand and Blavand in August. I read an article in Denmark describing why this year has this intensity of heather. The previous years were warm and dry, leading to an increased production of seed to save the species.
This year was warm and wet enough in Jylland so a maximum of seeds germinated and created this rich vegetation. Vejers Strand, Jylland, Denmark
We have arrived on the other side of the Wadden island of Ameland, at the row of young dunes that have to protect the North Sea side.
If you see the difference in height with the beach, considerable progress has been made with the dune formation.
It is now a matter of time for these young dunes to get higher and higher. The ripples in the sand at the front point to the prevailing wind direction, which is predominated from the southwest.
The sand is sprayed in this direction and you can see that marram grass has germinated at the top. This grass species keeps the sand together due to their long and large root system.
Marram grass is drought resistant and the water requirement is obtained from the moist sea air.
There has just been a nice rain shower and the wet sand also contributes to this....

Fascinating is the plant that can visually hook gardeners, not with fancy foliage nor flashy flowers, but rather dried seed pods—those faded leftovers of a glorious growing season. Well, welcome to the strangely fascinating world of lunaria (Lunaria annua) also known as silver dollar plant or money plant because of the round, parchment-like seed casings it produces in late summer that have the shimmer of freshly minted silver coins.

The province of Nan is located in the north of Thailand and borders Laos. It is one of the lesser known provinces of Thailand, but is known for its natural beauty. Rice planting is one important agricultural activity in Thailand and it is part of the country's culture and traditions. The rice planting process in Thailand starts with preparing the soil. The farmers plow the soil to loosen it and provide it with nutrients. Then the rice seeds are planted in separate beds. After the seeds have germinated, the young rice plants are planted on the rice fields. These rice fields are usually arranged in terraces to better manage the water and ensure even irrigation. Planting rice is usually done manually, where the farmers manually put the rice plant into the ground. After planting, the fields are usually immersed in water to protect the rice plants from weeds and pests. After about 4 to 6 months, the rice is fully grown and ready to be harvested. After harvesting, the rice grains are washed and dried before being stored or sold at the market. Rice is an important source of food in Thailand and is used in many dishes from curries to fried rice dishes.
We were warmly welcomed to the enchanting farm stay ฮ้างนาตาจันทร์ in Pua, nestled in the middle of vast rice fields. As we immersed ourselves in the soothing atmosphere of Doi Phu Kha National Park, our senses were pampered with the lush green splendor of nature. It was a true oasis of serenity, where we could settle down and completely relax. The mornings started with a gentle breeze that greeted us as we enjoyed a delicious breakfast with fresh local produce. In the afternoon we cooled down at the nearby Tat Luang waterfall, a majestic waterfall that let its cool water flow into beautiful pools. In the evening, the moonlight lit up the rice fields like an enchanting spectacle. We basked in the stillness of the night, surrounded by a symphony of crickets and the soothing sounds of nature.
Epigeous germination of a seed of zinnia
The embryo has started its exponential growth: the radicle surrounded with fine silky filaments begins to sink into the earth whereas the stalk propels upward the cotyledons still protected by the integument. Cotyledons, essential leaves of the seed, will soon eject the integument, spread and turn green.

The growth and development of flowers occurs over several weeks from the germination of seeds planted in a ground or container to the time in which flowers bloom. The entire process happens in about five stages for most flowers. Although flower species have varying bloom periods, the general growth and development process is basically the same for all flowers. Moderate variations in the length of time of certain stages may differ by flower species. A Sprout Is Born
The seed begins the germination process during the first five days after being planted. During day 3 of the initial growth and development stage, imbibition begins as the dry seed takes in water from the ground. Next, the root emerges from the seed coat on or about day 4. On day 5, the root begins to extend and develops a root system at one end while a stem forms at the other end. The stem starts the process of making its way upward and eventually past the soil's surface. Hey, Bud
Stage 2 is the stage when a flower's leaves develop. Leaf development usually begins on day 6 and continues to day 26. Leaves begin as tiny rosettes (leaf buds). As the stem begins growing leaves, the development of a flower's primary root structure also culminates usually sometime after day 14. Even though leaf growth does not officially happen until stage 3, the first leaf buds may begin growing after day 18 and continue until day 26. A New Leaf on Life
Leaf growth overlaps slightly between stages 2 and 3 as buds evolve into new leaf growth. But stage 3 officially marks the entire leaf growth period at around day 19. During this stage, all of the leaf buds grow until each one reaches full maturity at about day 29. It's also possible for stage 4 to begin during the latter part (day 26) of the leaf growth stage.
Beginning of the Blossom Day 26 is the day in which most flowers experience inflorescence emergence. In other words, flower buds start appearing on the stem, signifying stage 4 of development. It often occurs toward the end of stage 3 leaf growth; however, it is treated as a separate stage because the period indicates the growth and development exclusively of flowers.
Bloom Times
Stage 5 commences the flower production phase. On approximately day 31, the first flower bud opens. Additional flower buds continue opening throughout a roughly 18-day bloom period until day 49 at which point flower production typically ends.

Nuphar lutea flowers emerge about three years after seed germination, blooming mid-spring through early autumn, each flower taking 4 to 5 days to develop -- a process incorporating secretion of a sweet-smelling nectar on the stigma, pollen cross-fertilization by a host of insects (bees, beetles, flies, aphids). Habitat for Nuphar latea ranges widely from moving to stagnant waters of “shallow lakes, ponds, swamps, river and stream margins, canals, ditches, and tidal reaches of freshwater streams;” alkaline to acidic waters; and sea level to mountainous lakes up to 10,000 feet in altitude. The species is less tolerant of water pollution than water-lilies in the genus Nymphaea.

VERY tiny, sticky and hard to work with germinating cress seeds!
More on photosteam :)
Macro + extension tube, focus stacked.
This is the first time that I have ever had a wild yellow poppy growing! It’s a lovely Welsh Poppy that’s maybe had its seeds blown in from elsewhere or left behind to germinate from bird droppings.
A walk on my local beach on Anglesey saw interesting sand patterns. This one reminded me of the start of a germinating seed.
This germinating mangrove seed was flushed from its estuarine habitat by an outgoing tide. Mangrove forests are a major intertidal habitat of tropical to temperate muddy coasts and estuaries. Some of their ecosystem functions are:
-long-term sinks for stormwater contaminants
-supporting biodiversity and recycling organic matter
-providing nurseries for some estuarine and coastal fish species.
In New Zealand, the rapid filling of estuaries with sediment associated with catchment deforestation has created new habitat for our only mangrove species, Avicennia marina. Aerial photographs show that the distribution of mangroves in upper North Island estuaries has substantially increased since the 1940s, spreading at an average rate of 4% per year.
You may know that its outer 'skin' is so hard and durable that pollen can survive even millions of years. Thus it can be used to date geological and archaeological finds, giving insight, for example, into the processes of climate change.
How then can an insect such as our Long Hoverfly eating pollen access the nutrients inside such a grain?
Well, the pollen grain is 'tricked' - as Christopher Hassall says. When pollen lands on a flower's stigma, the sticky, sweet surface signals it to open a germination pore in that hard outer covering. Through it a pollen tube grows down the style to the ovary to fertilise an ovule which if all goes well will become a seed.
Now, grains of pollen ingested by our Hoverfly into its mid-gut land in a similar environment with nectar and enzymes. They're induced to open a germination pore which gives those enzymes extraction access to pollen's nutrients, thus nourishing our insect and allowing it further life and more pollination work. The empty pollen grains are then normally evacuated.
The photo shows a Hoverfly licking a purple stamen of Field Bindweed for its white pollen. In the middle is the flower's stigma and pistil.
STOP DREAMING, START DOING.
Can't let our government cut all the trees for economic reasons any longer.
So I'm currently growing pine trees from the seeds of pine cones.
After one week I already have a bunch of them growing.
.
If you want some of them yourself, to plant in your garden or elsewhere, or to grow a bonsai, just CONTACT ME!
I'll feed and grow them until they are stable in a small pot and we'll connect to hand over the tree. Then you can share some photos by yourself caring for it.

SN/NC: Rodhodendrum Indicum, Var. Nudiflorum , Ericaceae Family
Azaleas are flowering shrubs currently classified into two of the subgenera of Rhododendron - the subgenus Pentanthera, typified by Rhododendron nudiflorum and the subgenus Tsutsusi with Rhododendron tsutsusi.
Azalea hybrids have been created for hundreds of years. These genetic modifications made by humans have produced more than 10,000 different cultivar species that are propagated from cuttings. The seeds can also be collected and germinated.
A curious fact is that the honey produced by bees from these flowers is highly poisonous to humans, while it is harmless to insects. (Source: Wikipedia)
