M Street - home to Georgetown bars and restaurants

Had an incredible opportunity to take photos in at a private residence named Georgetown.

This little town was built by a man named George Smith who wanted to showcase all of the items he had collected while working in Hollywood.

I am not sure how big the entire property is, but it has enough room for this dilapidated town that includes a bar, a cantina, a hotel, a garage, a station house, and a lot more. Evidently he built one building a year, full scale.

The buildings are filled with what he collected. We could go in some of the buildings, others were too dangerous to enter because they were falling apart.

It was a fascinating trip, and a little sad. George Smith died about 12 years ago and his town is slowly decaying. Felt that I had a real opportunity to see something that might not survive ten years down the road.

Was able to go thanks to my Sonoma County Photography Meetup group, which arranged this trip with the permission of the family who lives there now.

Truly an American Ghost Town, even though no one ever actually lived there.

So many of them were gorgeous in this decrepit sun-bleached way.

This lighthouse is known as the North Island Lighthouse by the locals. It sits 12 miles away from Georgetown. This is the 3rd lighthouse, the 1st burned down, the 2nd lost to a hurricane, this one was built in 1812 using brick and built in a Cap Cod style. It is still active today, but is fully automated. We were not allowed to get off our boat due to Homeland Security issues. Being an active navagational aid it is considered a target! So all my pictures were taken from a boat.

Our first day in Colorado, we rode the Georgetown Loop.
