Home of Dr. George Starke. From my historian friend, Christine Kinlaw Best:
"Dr. Starke was the first African American physician to practice here in Sanford, coming here in 1927. He practiced in Sanford for 50 years & when he retired in 1977, the City gave him a massive retirement party in the Civic Center. Sadly, he passed away the next year in 1978. He was loved by the entire community. His home is at: 611 S. Locust Ave. It's a big two-story white house in Georgetown."
This, my friends, was the infamous game wen Billy Packer referred to Allen Iverson as a "tough monkey" on live TV. Of course, we didn't know about this until after the game - when we met up with two friends who had been watching the game in a run down bar in a run down section of Landover, MD.

This is one of my favorite sculptures.
One day I am going to bring a sheet for a background and isolate them.
This tree was at 28th St and Pennsylvania Ave in Georgetown, in front of the Four Seasons Hotel. It's no longer there. The District, for whatever reason, chopped it down.
I used to walk passed this little pharmacy when I lived in Georgetown. Not sure if I ever went in, but I found the old style "apothecary" look so charming.
