Graslei and Korenlei are some of the most scenic areas of Gent in Belgium.

I am fully aware that this is not the most creative picture because it has been taken a million times already. But you know what - you are there, you have your camera with you, it is blue hour, you take the shot! :)

The Gravensteen (Dutch; literally "Castle of the Counts") is a medieval castle at Ghent, East Flanders in Belgium. The current castle dates from 1180 and was the residence of the Counts of Flanders until 1353. It was subsequently re-purposed as a court, prison, mint, and even as a cotton factory. It was restored over 1893–1903 and is now a museum and a major landmark in the city

The picture captures the stunning beauty of the Big Canal in Ghent on a bright, sunny day. The ancient architecture, houses, castles, and bridges lining the canal are awe-inspiring, with intricate details and textures visible in every nook and cranny. The warm hues of the buildings, ranging from shades of beige and brown to deep reds and oranges, are bathed in the golden light of the sun. The canal itself sparkles with reflected light, creating a sense of vibrancy and life. The bridges that cross the canal are architectural masterpieces in their own right, with arches and spires that stretch high into the sky.

Pedestrians are depicted enjoying the sunny day, walking along the canal's edge, admiring the stunning views, and taking in the city's historic charm. The people in the picture are a mix of locals and tourists, adding to the sense of vibrancy and energy. Some are walking on the bridges, while others are sitting on benches, soaking in the sun, and taking in the beauty of the surroundings. The atmosphere is relaxed, with a feeling of peace and tranquility.

Overall, the picture is a celebration of Ghent's rich history and architectural heritage, capturing the beauty and charm of the city in a single frame. It evokes a sense of wonder and appreciation for the past, as well as a joyous celebration of the present.

Europe, België, Vlaanderen, Gent, Emile Braunplein, Stadshal, People (slightly cropped).

The Stadshal (2012) is a covered meeting place and event location. Approx size: l 40 x 15 x 20 (height). It’s placed on four concrete pedestals and has two pointed roofs, which refer to the pointed gabled facades of the town hall and the other surrounding buildings.

The facades and roof are wood (afrormosia) covered. The roof is protected from the weather by glass tiles. On the inside is oak. Natural light is brought in by some 1400 small rectangular windows.

After a competition, the design of the building was awarded to Robbrecht and Daem architecten & Marie-José Van Hee. It was integrated into the large-scale urban redevelopment scheme ‘Master Plan Torenrij Gent’ (2007), focused on the restructuring of the Korenmarkt, Emile Braunplein and the Belfortstraat area. Of course there was some controversy.

This is number 47 of the Gent album and 110 of the Urban restructuring (World) one.

The railway station of Gent is undergoing a complete refurbishment. The old historical buildings completed in 1912 gently mix with the contemporary structures.

Gent, Belgium. Few villages in Europe have the wonderful past that Gent has. Looking all the ancient and medieval buildings and little streets and channels, you can be transported some centuries back. Gent, one of the finest panoramas of water and centuries-old grand houses.
