The sun sets on west central Iowa as a trio of wind generators continue to generate renewable electricity for what is becoming a new "green" power grid across the United States. Iowa is the third largest wind power generating state in the nation.

Many of these old generators were out on the street, very noisy and giving off smoke. I'm assuming that the craftsman here must recreate and take care of them, but I'm not quite sure what they're for.
1969-the 3 NZST houses in down town Qui Nhon had Honda 2000 stand-by generators - all were buggered, too small for the workload so I replace them with these Lister Diesels ordered from Singapore. Ben Franklin (1746-52 ) flew kites to demonstrate that lightning is a form of static electricity (ESD). He would run a wire to the kite and produce sparks at the ground, or charge a Leyden jar. This led Franklin to invent the lightning rod. Franklin also made several electrostatic generators with rotating glass balls to experiment with. These experiments led him to formulate the single fluid (imponderable fluid) theory of electricity. Previous theories had held there were two electrical fluids and two magnetic fluids. Franklin theorized just one imponderable electrical fluid (a fluid under conservation) in the universe. The difference in electrical charges was explained by an excess ( + ) or defect ( - ) of the single electrical fluid. This is where the positive ( + ) and negative ( - ) symbols come from in electrical science.

2013 August 22: Mike Solari (L) and Chef get one of Ed's severely Playafied Honda generators working again. Starter fluid made short work of the problem.
Generator frame I built up for a guy who was 4x4'ing his motorhome just a little too much, and knocked the original generator frame off. I built the new one out of 3" x 3/8 square tube, with 2 3/8"x6" custom bent skids on the bottom so he wouldn't catch all this on anything. Ran into him at the post office the other day, he said it's workin' good so far! May 2011
