GEARTALK: GOING TO INDONESIA - WHAT'S IN MY BAG.
I’ll be going to Indonesia in a couple of weeks, so it’s time for another “What’s in my bag” post.
Most of the stuff shown here is actually also part of my Every Day Carry pack (EDC). Let’s start from top left going left to right:
- Lowepro Card case with five SanDisk Extreme SDHC 16GB 45mb/s cards and a couple of “old” SanDisk Ultra 4GB cards
- Muji leather card case with my ID and a couple of cards that do not necessarily need to be inside my wallet
- Moleskin Reporterstyle Notebook
- couple of pens including a permanent marker for stickers and stuff
- small Muji netcase with extra batteries, lensshade and lenscap for my Fuji XE-1
- little small survival pack (in a sticky situation I probably would not have any idea how to use it though)
- eBay Noname flashlight (cheap but great LED flaashlight. Saving up for a Surefire or Fenix)
- Miltec Assault Pack (great value military style pack. Going to exchange it for a TAD Fast Litespeed pack in the future)
- a couple of business cards
- Jimi Wallet. Perfect slim frontpocket wallet. Protects my cards from getting bend and keeps everything organized.
- Leatherman Style CS Multitool. Nothing for the woods but in an urban environment the bottle opener, scissors and knife are essential.
- Keys
- OCZ ATV USB-Stick 4GB: This one is a great almost indestructible USB Stick. Not only does it write and read fast, but also you can actually wash it with your clothes or boil it in hot water if you like.

- iPhone wall charger
- Eneloop mobile booster. A small battery with two USB ports to fully charge an iPhone twice
- iPhone 5 cable
- headphone cable extension

- small screwdrivers
- Headphone splitter
- Flight headphone adapter. I hate using the inflight headphones.

- iPad 2 32GB. When I am working I’ll take my Macbook Pro instead. But for this trip I want to travel as light as possible.

So equipment wise that’s almost about it. This is what I will bring on my three week trip to Indonesia. I’ll probably wont use the Nikon that much. I’m on vacation and I just don’t want to bother with carrying too much of equipment.

Vandaag moest ik in Gent een camera oppikken voor iemand, en wat is er geschikter om die in te zegenen dan een mooie goederentrein? Ondanks de hitte dus toch maar even doorgefietst naar Langerbrugge om de bedieningstrein vast te leggen. Dat was er nog niet van gekomen, ook al studeerde ik de afgelopen jaren in Gent ... Onterecht natuurlijk, want het is inmiddels één van Vlaanderens meest ongerepte spoorwegplekjes geworden! Daarom stond het op mijn verlanglijstje voor 2014, en de afgelopen weken leerde Flickr me dat ik niet de enige was ;).
Het plotse vertrek na de middagpauze verraste me (en het werd nog even spannend met een volle SD-kaart) maar uiteindelijk kon ik hier toch hét standaardplaatje maken. Door het nieuwe rangeerbord langs spoor 2 was het vertrek vanaf spoor 1 lang niet slecht.
Ik ben trouwens behoorlijk onder de indruk van het compactje. Ik heb een hekel aan 'geartalk' maar een mens zou zich toch beginnen afvragen waarom we nog met die zware body's en grote lenzen zeulen ... Ware het niet dat fotograferen zonder zoeker een doodzonde blijft.

호주얼쨩(큰) 슈렉님께 빼앗아 온 Minolta MC Rokker 58mm f1.4... 약간은 허접해 보이기도 하는 NEX 아답터에 마운트 되어있었던 이 랜즈. f1.4의 커다란 조리개와 6각의 bokeh디자인이 돋보여서 잠시 빌려왔는데, 역쉬~
Ebay에서 실가를 확인해보니 비슷한 50mm f1.7은 찾기쉬워서 한 USD110정도에 거래되는 반면에, 58mm f1.4는 찾을수는 있는데 컨디션이 좋으면 한 USD300정도에 거래되는군요.
집에와서 NEX 5와 7에 골고루 껴 테스트 해본결과...
밝은 건 물론이구요, 렌즈 샤프함이 가운데 포커스와 주변에 많은 차이가 없이 정말 퍼포먼스... 기대이상입니다. 내일 비비드에 데리고 갈 생각인데, 과연 어떤 사진들을 안겨줄지 기대 됩니다.
단 하나, 주의해야 할 점이 있다면 Minolta range의 MD/MC 그리고 MA렌즈들은 퍼포먼스는 랜즈 옵틱스로 봐서는 기대 이상이나, 요즘나오는 디지탈 카메라와의 인터페이스는 별로인듯 합니다. 아직은 구체적으로 많은 테스팅 해보지 않아서 잘은 모르겠지만... ASA/ISO는 높이 올리는 경우 렌즈 bokeh가 이미지에 묻어나오는 경우가 있네요. NEX 7에 끼워 아까 라면드시는 회원님 사진들을 찍었는데, 6각형으로 묻어나오네요. 생각에 어두운 곳에서 촬영한 것도 있지만, NEX 7의 픽슬 수가 렌즈 resolution과 잘 맞지 않을 수 있다는 생각도 해 봅니다.
암튼... 오늘 득템했습니다. ^^ ㅎ~
