USS John A. Moore (FFG-19) was decommissioned and stricken on 1 September 2000, and was transferred to Turkey as that nation's TCG Gediz (F 495). As of 2015, she is still active in the service of the Turkish Navy. TCG Gediz (F 495) went through major modernisation and was redesignated as a Gabya-class frigate (G-class).
The G class (Turkish: Gabya sınıfı fırkateyn(ler)) is one of the frigate classes of the Turkish Navy. They are extensively modernized versions of ex-Oliver Hazard Perry-class guided-missile frigates of the US Navy, mainly designed for air defense with a weapons configuration that is optimized for general warfare.
The G-class frigates have undergone a major modernization program which included the retrofitting of a Turkish digital combat management system named GENESIS (Gemi Entegre Savaş İdare Sistemi). The system was designed and implemented jointly by the Turkish Navy and HAVELSAN, a Turkish electronic hardware systems and software company. The first GENESIS upgraded ship was delivered in 2007, and the last delivery was scheduled for 2011.

Ooooh, the Gelandewagen, G-wagen or G-class. A military vehicle with luxury fittings; a go-anywhere vehicle, capable of going where no other similar vehicle would even attempt to go. It looks almost the same today as when the first one rolled off the production line at Steyr-Daimler-Puch in Austria 40 years ago, but now has a wider set of engine and trim options - you can get a G55 AMG model with a 5.4 litre supercharged V8 and more horsepower than all the rides at the Grand National put together, or even a G65 AMG model with a 6.0 litre V12 engine developing over 620bhp. But, with prices starting at £60k for this 3.0 litre model, the G-class needs to be good. Some say that when you put your foot down hard in the V8 cars you can see the fuel gauge move in a downward arc. Others say that if you have to ask about the fuel consumption you are missing the point. Despite the aid of Ad-blue emission technology, this 3.0 litre diesel powered car still outputs 295g/km of CO2 making it so politically incorrect as to be on every eco friendly person's hit list. So, putting aside practical issues for a moment, such as money, the environment and the future of the world, perhaps we should just rename it the Gladwagen and all buy one before the powers-that-be ban it.
Went out to see about how Ludwig feels off road, with some hills climbs and locked diffs, came back with some portraits.
