This is just a quick hello to all of my wonderful flickr friends. I know you haven't heard from me for the past weeks and some of you worried a little (or even submited a Missing Person report... you're so sweet, sundance *g*). So here's the good news: No, I didn't disappear. :-)
I'm just taking a short flickr break since I'm pretty busy at the moment. Or as another flickrist once said: "real life has just been so real lately". At the moment I'm concentrating on finishing my apprenticeship to become a project manager, my new girlfriend also needs a lot of my spare time ;-) and all in all I don't want to spend a lot of time infront of my pc at the moment. Plus it's just too freezing cold outside to take pictures right now (I mentioned already that I hate winter, did I? *G*)
Anyways, be sure that it's just a short time-out and as a fellow countryman of mine used to say: I'LL BE BACK! *lol*

I fixed four wheels so that it's moveable and a stainless steel working surface so that it's easy to clean. The gas bottle is fixed underneath the table and has just enough clearance to roll the table around.

It is cold in my gran's house with no central heating. One kettle is for tea, and one is for hot water bottles.

First of all lets just say im not the best egg cracker. I have to give some credit to my friend tom. He thought of this idea. I liked how it turned out a lot. To get this picture we ended up having two egg sandwiches for dinner.

Boiling test: Primus Gravity III vs BRS 3000T (900SEK vs 120SEK)
Boiling (not scientific in any way) 0.5l of cold water in an aluminum kettle.
Primus Gravity III: 7min10sec
BRS 3000T: 6min38sec
Weight:
Primus Gravity III: 250g
BRS 3000T: 27g
My conclusion: The Primus Gravity III is likely better for larger pans/kettles/cups etc as the flame width is much wider. The BRS is perfect for solo hikers as you tend to use smaller cups to boil in. For me the BRS is the clear winner as for pack size and weight AND being the faster boiler for soloists.

The men are using a portable stove referred to by its Army designation as 'Army Stove, Gasoline 2-burner, Model M1942'. The stoves were made by the Coleman Company Inc, manufacturers of camping and outdoor recreational equipment. A similar stove was used by Field Hospitals for sterilizing equipment. Coleman remains in business to this day, still manufacturing stoves but their product range has diversified to included tents, sleeping bags, and all manner of outdoor equipment.

Alright, so here's another picture from my gas stove photoshooting, reworked in Photoshop. Behind the glass is one single gas flame. Don't know why, but for me this picture emanates a pretty evil or oppressive mood. Anyways, may I offer you a glass of water? :-)
