I started replaying Super Mario Sunshine™ on my Nintendo GameCube earlier this year, so I was inspired to make a few builds inspired by the game, the largest of which is just over 10" tall, including the Shine Sprite base. This was a fun build since it incorporates a lot of newer round pieces such as 2x2 round tiles with holes, 2x2 round plates with single studs, 6x6 round plates, and 3x3 rounded macaroni bricks, and of course the Jurassic World Gyrosphere pieces that I used on my Gumball Machine a few years back.

So fun day, was thinking about doing this last night while I trying to figure out what else I can shoot at home without having to go out and buy supplies since you know I'm quite broke. I figured what do I have a lot of that all relates to each other, took awhile to realize hey all my video game consoles and what not. Also I wanted to add some more stuff to this shot but for one the the surface is only so big and I couldn't find some of my older consoles and handhelds. Also I was originally just going to go with all black but seeing how there was no black N64 or GameCube controller and that I wanted them in the photo I just threw them in anyway. It was to empty without them. Thought of throwing in a couple games in as well but I decided no to in the end either.

Well first off let me say this, my god did this photo take forever to edit. I mean this is probably one of the longest edits I've done in awhile, mainly because I wanted to clean up this photo as much as possible. A lot of these things are kind of old and a little beaten. In particular that GameCube, that's the misses. Not to mention the screens on the DS and 3DS. Then I also had to spend a bit of time straightening out all the cables as well because all of them were curled a bit so none of them were straight. So plenty of retouching done in this shot. Lighting wise wasn't to big of an issue, since I've just been going with the one big soft light for all of these, just had to move the reflectors around to it would work well with all the reflective surfaces.

C-model Based on the modified Galactic Federation Gunship seen in the videogame titles "Metroid Prime 3: Corruption" as well as "Metroid Prime: Federation Force".

A total of 811 pieces are used for this C-model (the main model has 948). There is only one extra piece included specifically for this build, the transparent green windscreen in the cockpit.

It is NOT NECESARY to disassemble Ridley to build this model.

The Infant Metroid can also be stored at the back of the spaceship.

The build includes a landing gear deployment mechanism inspired in a similar function seen in "Metroid Prime 3".

I started replaying Super Mario Sunshine™ on my Nintendo GameCube earlier this year, so I was inspired to make a few builds inspired by the game, the largest of which is just over 10" tall, including the Shine Sprite base. This was a fun build since it incorporates a lot of newer round pieces such as 2x2 round tiles with holes, 2x2 round plates with single studs, 6x6 round plates, and 3x3 rounded macaroni bricks, and of course the Jurassic World Gyrosphere pieces that I used on my Gumball Machine a few years back.

Somehow, part of me always feels left out.

The rest of me is so goofy.

Even though I was born in 1999, the classic Sonic games are still very nostalgic for me because when I got my first console, which was the gamecube, I got Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Adventure DX, Sonic Heroes, and Sonic Mega Collection; which had Sonic 1-3 & Knuckles. So once I saw the announcement of Sonic Mania during the Sonic party live stream and Comic-Con, I was beyond hyped and it was my most anticipated game of this year! Now that I’ve played quite a bit of Sonic Mania, I’m ready to give my thoughts on the latest installment of Sonic’s adventures. Now is Sonic Mania bad like the last 5 Sonic games, or is this one just as good as the other 2D Sonic Games? Let’s check it out!

Good: If I were to create a metaphor for Sonic Mania, it’d be that this game is the Krabby Patty of video games. This game is an absolute gem, and it’s main reason is because it was made with love. When I heard that Sega hired Sonic fans to make this game, I was a little cautious. Now, I’m so glad that they made the decision to get Christian Whitehead to work on this game. I’ll never forget this man’s name, he and his team of devs saved Sonic. From the amazing opening animation, this game is made with pure fan love. The devs know what people like and don’t like about Sonic, and they’ve crafted the perfect 2D Sonic game. This game is beautiful in terms of visuals and the soundtrack and its gameplay is flawless and works like a dream. Sonic Mania captures the thrill and energy of going fast and reminds us why we love this blue hedgehog in the first place. With this game and Breath of the Wild, it just feels good to have a just a solid game. Unlike games like Injustice 2 or Splatoon 2, there are no catches with this game, you just buy the game and play it, badda bing badda boom. This game never slows down and it never gets dull with each level bringing new mechanics that never overstay their welcome. They’re there and they're a blast, but when you think it’s time for those mechanics to go, they go. But even then you’re still wishing to play them again. Another thing that’s great about Sonic Mania is its replayability. Like most 2D Sonic games, there are multiple paths to reach the goal, and each one is so unique, that you’ll want to go back and play it again. Not to mention that you can play as Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, which makes me want to beat the game with each character. The last thing I’d like to talk about are the boss battles. Now I’m going to be honest, I was never a fan of boss battles in previous 2D Sonic games, but Sonic Mania has fixed them. I think I can boldly say that Sonic Mania has the best boss battle that I’ve ever played in any video game EVER. I’m not going to spoil it, but when I played it, I was so pleasantly surprised. It was an actual boss battle that I wanted to play again, and I don’t think that’s ever happened before!

Bad: I only have one complaint with this game. My complaint is that I wish there were more newer stages than the olds ones. The new stages just were a lot more detailed and beautiful to look at. But even then, the olds ones felt new. I’m not a fan of Chemical Plant Zone, but this game actually made me love it. Oh shit, this is supposed to be the bad section. Fuck it, this game is basically perfect.

Overall, Sonic Mania is a return to why everyone loves the blue blur! I’m not going to call it a perfect game because my complaint still stands. Sonic Mania is a love letter to every Sonic fan and to the classic games that we’ve all grown up on. For these reasons, I’m going to give Sonic Mania a 9.9/10. It’s definitely not my favorite Sonic game, and it’s not my favorite game of the year, Breath of the Wild is ever-so-slightly better, but that doesn’t detract anything from this amazing game. I suggest you all go buy it if you’ve ever liked a Sonic game. Give this game as much support as you can, we need Sega to listen to us, this is how we want our Sonic games!
