For FGR's group choice, Revisted, it took me awhile to think about what photo I wanted to redo. There were quite a few that I wanted to redo, but I didn't feel like I had a lot of time to properly improve on one of my shots. Instead, I chose to redo my 15th picture from my 365.
(I took this picture yesterday, but never got a chance to upload it until today - so I'm a bit late in adding it.)
My reason for choosing this picture was not because it was one of the pictures I really wanted to improve on the photo quality - I decided to redo this picture because of the feelings associated with it. I wanted to revisit this shot because by looking back on it, I am so grateful for not being in the same place as I was then. That's what this shot is about - being grateful.
I was not doing very well during this time. I've struggled over the past couple years with depression - and during this time it was pretty bad. The worst part of it at the time was the fatigue. I was always so tired - I slept some nights for 14-16 hours. I just didn't have the physical energy to do much at all, even when I wanted to.
I know that a lot of people think that depression is all about being sad. But there is a whole range of symptoms that can be a part of it - the most debilitating part for me during this time was fatigue (though there were other things as well). About a year before this, my depression was at its worst - I couldn't see past the day I was living in, life felt hopeless and there were many mornings that I couldn't get out of bed.
One of the things that the experience has taught me is that this wasn't just about being sad. It wasn't about not being able to deal with things that were going on in my life. Despite the fact that it was probably triggered my some things that happened in my life, it was clear to me that the problem was a very real, physiological illness - not just "something in my head".

We put up Christmas lights this weekend, so it was obvious to include them in my SP today, especially considering the FGR theme of the day. I did think about getting them more bokehy-ey, but I like this too.
Lighting Info: A long exposure to get the lights burned in well and good. SB-600 camera right zoomed to 70 mm @ 1/32 power triggered by Nikon CLS.

4-H Clover College is a four-day series of hands-on workshops for youth presented by Nebraska Extension in Lancaster County. Emphasis is on science, agricultural literacy, healthy living, career development and citizenship/leadership. Many of the projects made during the sessions are eligible to be exhibited at the Lancaster County Super Fair in July.
2021 Clover College featured 48 workshops with 93 youth who participated (varying from 1 to 15 classes each) with a total 627 class registrations. New workshops this year included: “Virtual Reality Building,” “All About DNA,” “Decorative Couching (sewing technique),” “Steak Science,” “On the Bike Path (bicycle safety),” “Derby Cars,” “Pop Can Casting (fishing know-how),” “Loom Weaving,” and “Care Blankets.”
