A walk along the oceans shore. The late afternoon world is full of colors, mostly shades of red and gold. The ocean is loud, intense and the power is unmistakable. The wildlife hunts and gains power from the sounds and sights. It is entertainment only nature can provide.`125

Went down to the little river near where I live, trying some longer exposures. Unfortunately due to garbage (platic mostly) almost everywhere I had to find the tightest angles. We do have the best DSLRs, smartphones and more but that's the direct consequence on Nature: pollution and garbage. This is cropped a lot couse I wanted to emphasize the flow and did some major editing on curves to gain more contrast between light and dark areas.

Today August 29th Bastian celebrates his 6th anniversary with us. He has gained a little weight, but is still the same cudly and playful boy as back then, when we found him at the shelter. :)

This double crested cormorant did a few circles of the lake to gain altitude before it finally left the area. Gave me a few passes at it. Didn't nail the focus, but I liked the dynamic pose enough to post it.

seen from the Babelsberg Palace Park, near Potsdam across the river Havel. (re-.edited and reposted)
October 3rd is a German holiday - Anniversary of Re-Unification. Therefor I though this photo would be suitable to remember the past during the cold war, when Berlin has been the borderline between Russian and the western allies (American, British and French). I posted ist long ago but now re-edited and now re-posted it.
The Glienicke Bridge over the River Havel connects Berlin with Potsdam. The road bridge owes its name to the nearby former “Klein Glienicke“ estate, on the site of which is now "Glienicke Castle“. The truss bridge was opened at the end of 1907 as the fourth structure at this point under the name "Kaiser Wilhelm Bridge“, which, however, did not catch on.
The state border between Brandenburg and Berlin and the city border with Potsdam runs across the middle of the bridge. During the period of German division, the Glienicke Bridge gained worldwide fame through the third and last agent exchange, which was spectacularly staged on February 11, 1986.
The Trautzberger Maar (= volcanic lake) at Strohn in the volcanic Eifel was unknown to me until now, because it has only been renatured since 2014 so it is filled with water again.
It was once drained (like many other maars) to gain additional grazing land.
The Maar is idyllically nestled in a meadow valley and is considered the smallest maar of the Eifel.

Hello to all my Flickr friends. As many of you know, just over a year ago my beautiful wife Marilyn had a stroke. Her road to recovery has had its ups and downs. Last February, she came home from the rehab hospital in a wheelchair, but by late spring she was able to walk short distances with the aid of a walker. She was gaining strength and more independence with each passing day. Unfortunately, this past November she had two falls, with the second one putting her back in the hospital. But again, her strong determination has resulted in her fighting through the pain as a result of the falls, and the limitations caused by the stroke. Another Christmas and New Year day in hospital, but she will be home soon. I took this photograph over forty years ago when I was shooting and developing black and white film with my Canon 35 mm SLR camera. I love her look of determination, which has been one of her qualities ever since I’ve known her. This determined spirit has been very strong over the course of this past year.
For all of us, this past year has been difficult, but we must always look forward to the New Year and tackle any challenges, good or bad, that come our way. So, to all of you, a very Happy and healthy New Year.
My participation on Flickr will continue to be limited in the coming new year, but hopefully by the summer I will return on a more regular basis.
The film that I used for this photograph was Kodak Tri-X pushed to 1600 ISO using Diafine developer to process the negatives.
Triple Falls, Du Pont State Forest.
Easily reached by a steep but short hike, this location has all three falls in view at the same time, but at the cost of being a bit distant. Total height of the falls is around 100 feet. Good views of the upper two cascades can be gained by taking the steps down to the viewing area at the top of the lower cascade. And I imagine that a good view of the lower cascade can be had from the base which seems popular with anglers.
‘Beware the Blackthorn Winter’ is a country saying about a spell of cold weather in early April which often coincides with the blossoming of the blackthorn (Prunus Spinosa). The pure white of the blackthorn blossom matches the snow or hoar frost covering the fields nearby and almost invariably bitter north easterly winds. The longer days and sun gaining strength at this time of year often give a spell of warmer weather - but then the Blackthorn Winter comes along and reminds us it’s not quite summer yet. Statistically, we are more likely to have snow at Easter than at Christmas.
A Blackthorn Winter can be described as the opposite of an Indian summer.
Blackthorn white blossoms appear before the leaves, creating a contrast against the dark smooth thorny branches. The blackthorn flowers eventually become purple sloes, ripening in autumn and harvested traditionally in October or November, after the first frosts, and used to make a Sloe gin liqueur.
After gaining the upper plateau of Cairn Gorm, we can look down through the rocks of the coire as we refuel with some light snacks. A small lochan lies below us called Coire an Lochan with our starting point to the right and the town of Aviemore just visible beyond Loch Morlich in the distance.
Cairn Gorm, the mountain from which the Cairngorm mountain range gets its name, stands at 1245 meters (4085 feet) and is my 4th Munro of the season, my 27th in total. The hike (no bike this time) sees me covering a circuit of just over 7 miles and making an elevation gain of around 762 meters (2500 feet).

Do you ever feel like this snail where somehow you got into a situation with or without your consent and now feel like a puppet? Think and act and get your control back. This snail was not going to do what I wanted and was actively letting me know by trying to escape. It moves slowly but that's all it takes to make the necessary changes to gain control, just baby steps. Never give up!
As well as having any number of delightful shades and colours, Dewhurst's Sylko have an equally wonderful range of names to accompany them. As I embarked on my "Embroider my World" project, I think I fell in love with the names of the Sylko colours as much as the colours themselves. This lovely shade of dusky pink is called "Biskara", named after Biskra, the capital city of Biskra Province in Algeria.
When it was my birthday last year, a very dear friend who enjoys photography as much as I do, and knows that I collect beautiful and vintage pieces, gave me a wonderful selection of antique ribbons, buttons, buckles, lace and other fine notions. She also gave me three follow up tins of similar delightful gifts for Christmas.
Those wonderful gifts are what has inspired me to create this series of "Embroider my World" images featuring my vintage bobbin collection. In this case my Dewhurst's Sylko Biskara reel of cotton which dates from between 1938 and 1954 sits atop some creamy ecru lace which has gained its colour after more than one and half centuries of life, as it is from the 1850s. The spool is accessorised by two Victorian glass bead tassels, sparking in the morning light, and an Art Deco pearl and rhinestone appliqué.
Belle Vue Mill, commonly known as Dewhurst’s, was built by Thomas Dewhurst in 1828. It opened in 1829 as John Dewhurst & Sons and was one of Skipton’s largest spinning and weaving mills. The mill’s position next to the Leeds Liverpool Canal meant that raw cotton could be shipped in by boats from Liverpool. Finished goods would then be sent back the same way ready for distribution. Coal to power the machine’s steam engines was also delivered by barge. In 1897 Dewhurst’s was bought by the English Sewing Cotton Co. It continued to produce Sylko, one of the mill’s most famous products. It was produced in over 500 colours and sold throughout the world. Sylko cottons are still available at haberdashers today.

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! xo❤️ ❤️ ❤️
From the summit of Carn an Tuirc we have this splended view down to Glenshee and the Ski centre, with the Caringorm mountains back-dropping the whole scene (I've picked out three other Munro's that I know). I've climbed from a starting point lower than the ski centre to give some idea of the effort involved. I would say breath taking, but I had little breath left by this time!!
This bike trip takes me to the summits of two Munro's, Carn an Tuirc & Cairn of Claise. Carn an Tuirc is at a height of 1018 meters (3339 feet), while Cairn of Claise is sightly higher at 1062 meters (3484 feet). It took me four hours to drag myself (and my bike) up there, but because of the bike, it took less than an hour to get back to the car. Total distance covered was 26.5 kilometers (16.5 miles) and starting at 370 meters, I had an altitude gain of over 700 meters (2296+ feet) - that was a big one!!
After walking for a while, you will always find beautiful scenery, experience some things, and always gain something.
Sure hope we all soon can comfortably see aerial views like this again! :)
Have a terrific day, everyone...

Pacific white-fronted geese after taking off from the Colusa National Wildlife Refuge on their spring migration to the northern reaches of Alaska and Canada. Currently two populations of white-fronted geese are recognized: the Pacific Population and the Mid-Continent Population. Numbers of Pacific Population white-fronted geese have increased steadily over the last decade.
Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your kind comments -- I appreciate them all.

One of central Maine's larger lakes, and arguably one of the most scenic. There are numerous wooded islands and areas of undeveloped shoreline. It covers nearly 9 square miles, with 62 miles of shoreline.
Cobbossee is a shortened version of Cobbosseecontee, which in the Wakanaki language means "plenty of sturgeon."
As long time Flickr friends know, I take photos here fairly often, thanks to the kind permission of a landowner. I keep coming back, because I am sure that the lake has not yet revealed all its beauty to me. One of the joys of photography is to gain a deeper appreciation and love for one's subject matter as years and seasons pass.
Thank you for visiting!
Ok, maybe not a thousand, but the Goose Lake Railroad runs in some of the most isolated regions of California and Oregon. The former SP Lakeview Branch runs from Alturas, CA to Lakeview OR, branching off the famous Modoc Line. Due to few industries on the line resulting in low income, this branch has seen several railroads running this track over the years, but Goose Lake seems to be doing fine as Lakeview gains more traffic and customers. Seen here, a northbound brings somewhere around twenty or thirty cars toward Lakeview at Surprise Station.

Small Gains Creek, Canvey Island. At the eastern end of the Island lies the “Point”, the Island fades from buildup land to salt marsh and a of little creeks. This is where the boating community come together. A haven for waders of migrating birds.
On a cold fall day, a bighorn sheep chose to rest on a natural rock bench that had been heated by the sun. It was so content it was chewing its cud while soaking up the sunshine.
You may want to enlarge to see more detail of the sheep but I purposely shot for distance to get a better idea of the setting.

This one seems to have gained a little something from the changes in tech. Plus I straightened it better. :-)
A marker cairn near the foot of the final rise to the summit of Cairn Gorm sits by the side of the path we're following through the rocks and boulder fields as very little can grow and survive at this altitude.

Parliament gained a permanent home after Queen Victoria chose Ottawa as the capital in 1857. The Library building, designed in the High Victorian Gothic Revival style by Thomas Fuller and Chilion Jones, opened in 1876. Its circular shape and the use of galleries and alcoves were the inspiration of the first Parliamentary Librarian, Alpheus Todd. He recommended that the building be “spacious and lofty” and wisely advised that it be separated from the Centre Block by a corridor to protect it from fire 113

Solheimasandur gained significant attention and popularity among tourists due to the presence of an abandoned plane wreck on its beach. The wreckage is that of a United States Navy Douglas Super DC-3 airplane that crash-landed on November 24, 1973.
The plane was en route from Hofn in the east of Iceland to the US Navy base in Keflavik when it encountered severe icing on its wings, leading to a loss of control. Miraculously, all the crew members and passengers on board survived the crash. However, the US Navy decided not to salvage the aircraft due to the remote location and the high cost involved.
Over time, the abandoned plane became a haunting and iconic landmark on Solheimasandur beach. Its presence in the desolate landscape attracted photographers, adventurers, and curious visitors from around the world. The plane's rusted and weathered exterior, juxtaposed against the black sand and dramatic coastline, created a surreal and captivating sight.
There is bus shuttle every day between 10:00 and 17:00 taking you for the parking lots to plane wreck, it costs €20. There were lot of tourists taking snapshots around the plane from the same shuttle, lots of people even staying inside the plane… A bit difficult to take clean photos without disturbing by others. It may be good idea to take the last bus at 5pm, staying until all the others left, but you have to walk back to the parking lot on your own.

Taken on a Mix Stage at Sony Pictures Studios a couple years ago. This week marks my 10th consecutive year working for them, but the big change is I'm working from home in another state.
