I have always had a soft spot for 65 GTO's.
I owned one a long time ago.
Somewhere around 1969.
Mine was not as nice as this one but sill it was probably the nicest cars I have ever owned.
Everyone has had a car in their past that they really loved. Whether it was their first car or the fastest car or the newest car.
Mine was not this car. It wasn't new. I bought it used. I loved that car.
Where mine was Burgundy. This car is Blue Charcoal.
It sold at the auction for $32,450.
The cost for this car new in 1965 was probably about $3,500.00

I caught this GTO just as I was leaving the Cats INn the Garden show at the Van Vleck house in Montclair, New Jersey. It's of mid-sixties vintage.
The GTO was created with the same idea Volkswagen would apply to creating the GTI; Pontiac took a volume family car (the Le Mans/Tempest) and put a powerful engine in it and added a few other nice features to create a performance vehicle. Or, as it ws called, a "muscle car."
Speaking of the engine, I don't know how this vehicle could be street legal. There was no hood! .
Parked behind the show without any registration plates or a front bumper, Though it did have a temp driving permit.
