I came across this stretch of woodlands under extremely attractive lighting conditions, the scene lying along the western banks of the Bitterroot River in western Montana. It was a late autumn / early winter afternoon, and the warmth of the sun permeated this leafless woodlot. My eyes were also enamored of the various dried grasses in the foreground and mid-ground.
All in all, the delicious lighting is the hero of this scene and his resulting image. I was lucky, indeed, to have stumbled onto it at the right hour on the right day.
