My age is showing - I thought it was cool that someone was cosplaying as Groucho Marx from A Day at the Races, but this was actually a Dr. Mario cosplay...

Hollywood sign facts:
1. The sign read HOLLYWOODLAND from 1923 to 1949.
2. Each letter originally stood 50 feet (15 m) and 30 feet (9.1 m) wide high, but renovations in 1978 resized the letters to 45 feet (14 m) tall and anywhere from 31 to 39 feet (9.4 to 12 m) wide.
3. In 1932, Broadway actress Peg Entwistle committed suicide by jumping off the letter “H.”
4. Alice Cooper led the 1978 donation drive to remodel the famous sign. The shock rocker contributed $27,000 of his own money to the project, and bought an “O” in memory of Groucho Marx.
5. Hugh Hefner donated to the restoration of the “Y” with a $27,777 contribution.
6. In the 1940s, the sign’s official caretaker, Albert Kothe, destroyed the “H” after crashing into it while driving drunk.
7.In January 1976, following the passage of a state law decriminalizing marijuana, vandals altered the sign to read ” HOLLYWeeD.”

Initially released in 1949, this movie was re-released in 1953 to take advantage of Marilyn's growing popularity.
The latest post on my www.QuoteCounterquote.com site features variations on "A dog is a man’s best friend," including this classic quip by Grouch Marx. It also provides the backstory on the origin of the "man's best friend" saying. Here's a link to the post - www.quotecounterquote.com/2014/09/a-mans-and-girls-best-f...

Una figura de unos veinte centímetros que compré hace unos años de Groucho Marx... ¿qué se puede decir de sus películas?
A bored-looking Groucho Marx hangs back during a zany fight scene, from the 1950s comedy, "A Girl in Every Port."
From Ben and Al's morgue files.
Stamped on the back: "Independent Poster Exchange, 1323 Vine St., Phila. PA"
This car looks somewhat like Groucho Marx.
