Betty Cantor-Jackson was a road crew member and sound engineer for the Grateful Dead.
From 1971-1980 she recorded many Grateful Dead shows, along with shows by numerous other San Francisco/Bay Area bands.
Her recordings of live Grateful Dead shows were highly coveted by Dead tape collectors because of their audio clarity, balance and sparkling acoustics, especially the shows from 1976-1978.
In the mid-1980's Betty fell on hard financial times and had to auction off her worldly possessions, including her massive tape collection.
Three parties came into ownership of this tape collection. Some took decent care of the tapes. Some did not.
But thanks to the dynamic efforts of Dark Star orchestra guitarist Rob Eaton and his associates, all of the tapes are being restored and will find their way to the Grateful Dead Tape Archives.
This release of an amazing show is just the tip of the 'Grateful' audio iceberg.

My memoir of my life in the music industry will be released on Oct. 15 in the U.S. and Dec. 1 in Great Britain. It is available now for pre-order on Amazon.com.
From my publisher's web site: The Doors, James Brown, the Grateful Dead, the Sir Douglas Quintet, David Bowie—the list goes on. . . . From 1967 to 1973, Michael Oberman interviewed more than three hundred top musical artists. Collected together for the first time, Fast Forward, Play and Rewind presents more than one hundred interviews Oberman conducted with the most important musical artists of the day.
Along the way, Oberman touches on the influence of his brother, who interviewed the Beatles and other top artists from 1964 to 1967. He also recounts stories from his later career working for the major Warner-Elektra-Atlantic recording company, where he produced concerts for Cellar Door Productions and managed recording artists.
Want to know the true story of how David Bowie became Ziggy Stardust? That and dozens more true tales that might seem like fiction are waiting inside the pages of Fast Forward, Play and Rewind. Each short interview is an invitation for readers to relive (or live for the first time) one of the greatest periods in rock 'n' roll history.
