The color of this abandoned Nebraska house hasn't seemed to help its fate much. It seems in relatively good condition and is near a good road. But in a county of just 2700 people, the scarcity of jobs and long commute to find the necessities and comforts of life probably negate that feeling of " peacefulness" pretty quickly....

Golden Years?
After working for decades and paying tax all the while, could we at least not give the older members of society some respect, the chance to see the grandchildren and a free TV licence?
And not try to divide the various sections of society along identity lines such as age?
And far worse besides?

Flickr Support have asked me to leave my photograph up if it does not appear in your 'update feed' and start generating views as I would normally expect. This is so that their engineers can try to get to the bottom of the issue that continues to plague my account.
As a result this image may have fewer views and favourites than would be expected for a time.

"Love does not consist in gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery
As we enter into those Golden years together, we have set goals that we both strive for in retirement. These past two weeks some of those dreams have begun with a short camping trip together in quiet spots where we met very little people. It was wonderful to know we enjoyed each other's company enough to not miss having others around. We shared similar passions and talked about simple plans going forward. It was an amazing time away.

I did a photo shoot with my
beautiful friend
Miss Amy O'Neill a while back-
at Hollywood Forever
cemetery -
final resting place of so
many Hollywood luminaries
from Valentino to
DeMille to
the late great Joe Frisco,
a good friend.
And the idea was
a Halloween kind of shoot,
something I'd love to do
again -
I
and was looking over
all those shots, and found
this one -
from an old
movie that wasn't ever made
or seen
starring Amy O'Neill
called Two Angels.
Looking at this seascape, who would ever know it was another Monday? Doesn't look like the fisherman cares. Have a wonderful new week and may everything be just golden for you!

I have driven by this set of old farm buildings many times. This old buildings show so much character in their "golden years",something that probably can't be said when the modern steel buildings of today reach these years...
Have a great fence friday everyone!

My sister and I stood aside while this beautiful British couple came towards us on the same narrow grass path leading to the beach. Sunset was a little over an hour away, and perhaps they were thinking about dinner, or maybe about that really big wave earlier. The gentleman, seeing all of our cameras and gear said “Take my picture” and opened up his towel, spread-eagle. His arms folded back over his body before I could capture his pose, but I like what I’ve captured anyway. Then both stopped and shared a little chat with us (not unusual in this small New England town) before ceding the beach and path.
Tonight in the U.S. we have results of our Presidential election, and many rejoice in a sense of having the possibility to follow a path - - a path previously believed by some to have been closed. The sun hasn’t set yet, the path is wide open, and all who chose to take it (or even to branch out from it) are welcome.

D9009 Alycidon arrives at York at 09:01, a few minutes early, under the watchful gaze of the station clock.
The locomotive looked and sounded superb. There's certainly nothing to touch a Deltic and all of their years have been golden!
The headboard reads 'In Loving Memory of Driver Albert Gilmour'. Albert was a driver at Gateshead depot and drove the Deltics during their prime. The tour shown here was organised by his son Marcus Gilmour, a tremendously moving tribute.
During the 1970s, the 1E01 head code would have been for the 08:00 Edinburgh to King's Cross train. The locomotive is owned by the Deltic Preservation Society, and what beautiful condition it is in.
The link below is to some pictures from the local newspaper of the station during the 1970s, the ways things were!

The song reached number 8 in the charts in 1975, golden years indeed for railways in the UK!
