Female version of the greek god Apollo.
Apollo was the son of Zeus and Leto, twin brother of Artemis. He was the god of music, and he is often depicted playing a golden lyre. He was also known as the Archer, far shooting with a silver bow; the god of healing, giving the science of medicine to man; the god of light; and the god of truth. One of Apollo's most important daily tasks was to harness his four-horse chariot, in order to move the Sun across the sky.

I'm currently updating a translation with the Greek names for the gods and goddesses--will publish soon! :)
"RAGE--Sing, O goddess, the anger of Achilles son of Peleus, that brought countless ills upon the Achaeans. Many a brave soul did it send hurrying down to Hades, and many a hero did it yield a prey to dogs and vultures, for so were the counsels of Zeus fulfilled from the day on which the son of Atreus, king of men, and great Achilles, first fell out with one another. " --Homer's Iliad capturing the rage of the 45EPIC landscapes and seascapes! :)
Ludwig van Beethoven: "Music/poetry/art should strike fire from the heart of man, and bring tears from the eyes of woman."
Female version of the Greek god Hephaestus
Hephaestus was the god of fire, metalworking, stone masonry, forges and the art of sculpture. He was the son of ZEUS and HERA and married to APHRODITE by Zeus to prevent a war of the gods fighting for her hand. He was a smithing god, making all of the weapons for Olympus and acting as a blacksmith for the gods.

Sculpture called Sjöfartsgudinnan (English: The Maritime Goddess) in the port of Helsingborg - she carries a ship in each hand. Made 1921-1923 by Swedish sculptor Carl Milles (1875-1955).
This is a sculpture holding a flame torch sitting by a fireplace in a heritage building at the CNE, so I gave her the title of goddess of light. Photo processed and textured.

I'm working on an anthology of classic, epic poetry, which begins with selections from Homer's Iliad and Odyssey! :) I've replaced the Roman names with the Greek names: "RAGE, Sing, O goddess, the rage of Achilles son of Peleus, that brought countless ills upon the Greeks. Many a brave soul did it send hurrying down to Hades, and many a hero did it yield a prey to dogs and vultures, for so were the counsels of Zeus fulfilled from the day on which the son of Atreus, king of men, and great Achilles, first fell out with one another."

Elana as a goddess.
"Hamsa" means "five" in Arabic and "swan" in Hindi. This portrait is supposed to show my love for her and my view of her as a personal goddess. Thus, her name is on top of her top two wings (English on left, Hebrew on right), while the word "hamsa" is written in Arabic on the left and Hindi on the right. That is why there are swans flying around, as well as the ring of eyed hands. The skulls are there because we love skulls, and the trees are growing out of it because "elana" means "tree."
Here's my light set-up for Goddess Feminine. I let in a bit more light in the end, because my underwear lines looked bad in silhouette, so I decided you needed to see the underwear for the creases to be ok.

Once I got Ekimu Vs Skull Grinder, I immediately thought of using Ekimu's shoulder armor as the toes for a foot. Archinto said that I should make a goddess using the idea, so I did. It resulted in this. The proportions aren't good, but I think it still looks ok. It looks better with all the stuff it has when it's attatched to her.
This is a replica of the Goddess Isis statue and it is found in its original place, i.e. the ancient Athenian Herod Atticus' estate in Marathon, Attica, 2nd century AD. Parts of the original statue are exhibited in the Marathon Town Museum, nearby.
"She is the flow within us. A divine entity who is always leading us to a place where we feel most at home."
A new image! How exciting :D
This is what I photograph for, the simple pleasure of creating and showing new work. The entire process is beautiful.

In distant ages past, in another place & time, she was the goddess of time & space Istara.
She, along with her half-sisters Ayla & Eostra, sacrificed themselves to stop the god of death from destroying the universe.
Millennia later, Istara's soul was reborn as Epiphany.
Aphrodite is the Goddess of Love and Beauty and according to Hesiod’s THEOGONY, she was born from the foam in the waters of Paphos, on the island of Cyprus. Her holy tree was the myrtle, while her holy birds were the dove, the swan, and the sparrow.

This is one of my favorite statues of Quan Yin. In the Mahayana Buddhists tradition, she is a bodhisattva associated with compassion.
I had fun setting up and shooting this photo assignment. I had forgotten how beautiful this type of light painting can be creating such dramatic effects and photos.
Athena, also referred to as Athene, is a very important goddess of many things. She is goddess of wisdom, courage, inspiration, civilization, law and justice, strategic warfare, mathematics, strength, strategy, the arts, crafts, and skill.
She is known most specifically for her strategic skill in warfare and is often portrayed as companion of heroes and is the patron goddess of heroic endeavour.

i should start by thanking everyone who offered support and encouragement via their comments on my image yesterday. it meant a lot and there were so many wonderful suggestions on projects i can undertake to regain that spark i had during my 365.
i realized that i do have a project - my 52 weeks of film project. it had admittedly fallen into disarray as i have not been very organized about processing my film, scanning it, storing it, etc. so, i spent some time today getting organized and i feel re-energized about the project and determined to see it through.
this image was taken during my trip to visit brooke in LA in october. shot on fuji provia 400 reversal film on my pentacon-six.
she looks a little like a sea goddess here, doesn't she?
i posted a couple others on my blog.
The only private temple discovered (1936) so far in Alexandria was situated in the Ras el-Soda area on the agricultural road leading to El Montazah and Abu Qear and near the eastern company of Linen. In the early 19th and 20th centuries, the temple was transported to Bab Sharq.
It was built by the Roman charioteer Ezadoras (Isidore) as a thank giving for Isis, on the recovery of his foot which was broken when he fell off his chariot.
There are also four Ionic marble columns and five marble statues were placed between them;
The 3rd statue:
It is the largest one and it belongs to goddess Isis who is depicted in the Greek form as a standing figure of a woman wearing a tunic with a knot on her dress, she is also crowned with two horns and a sun disk, and she holds the situla (jar for sacred water).
