Trying out the 85mm lens for landscapes, I had to do a vertical pano of course! 4 frames stitched in Photoshop, 4 seconds at f/1.4, ISO3200 for each frame. Interesting air glow and I like the framing from the 85mm. I'm going to do this again!

A bit of photoshop fun for Sliders Sunday.

Don't ask about the concept here because I'm not sure there is one LOL.

The base image was taken with an ND filter to get a long exposure which removed all of the traffic. The A380 is one of my stock one which I've used before. I tried to work with the proportions here where the wingspan is 80 meters.. Alas, the width of the M6 here is more like 45 metres (verge to verge) making the shadow's wing span approx 60 metres.. So, still a little short...

Anyway, thought it was (just about) worth sharing.. HSS.

Marsh Owl (Asio capensis ssp.tingitanus) in flight Morocco_North Africa_w_0363

The Morocco Marsh Owls are an isolated and dwindling population. So much so that they are now a critically endangered species in Morocco.

This fragmented population is geographically separated from other breeding Marsh Owls by the huge arid area to the south called the Sahel. The Moroccan Marsh Owls are in fact a sub-species Asio capensis ssp. tingitanus. The only other other sub-species is Asio Capensis hova, in Madagascar.

The main cause of their decline in Morocco is habitat loss due to draining of large marsh areas with the expansion of agriculture.

"Go and love someone exactly as they are. And watch how quickly they transform into the greatest, truest version of themselves. When one feels seen and appreciated in their own essence, one is instantly empowered."

-Wes Angelozzi

Goes was founded in the 10th century on the edge of a river: de Korte Gos (the Short Gos). The village grew fast and in the early 12th century it had a market square and a church devoted to Maria. In 1405 Goes received city rights, and in 1417 it was allowed to build walls around the city. The prosperity of the city was based upon the cloth industry and the production of salt. In the 16th century Goes declined. Its connection to the sea got bogged down and in 1544 a large fire destroyed a part of the city.

In Autumn 1572, during the course of the Eighty Years' War, Goes, in the Spanish Netherlands, was besieged by Dutch forces with the support of English troops. The siege was relieved in October 1572 by Spanish Tercios. In 1577 the Spanish soldiers who occupied Goes were driven out by Prince Maurits of Nassau. The prince built a defence wall around Goes, which is still partly present. In the centuries thereafter Goes did not play an important role, except as an agricultural centre. In 1868 a railway was constructed through it, but this did not lead to industrialisation. Agriculture remains the most important economic activity.

Although The Netherlands were neutral in the First World War, seven bombs hit Goes and Kloetinge, due to an error by a British airplane. A house in Magdalenastreet in Goes was destroyed and one person killed. Goes did not suffer extensive damage during the Second World War, but was under German occupation until 1944.

Goes did not experience much population growth until the 1970s and 1980s. Then, the city grew fast because of new districts like Goese Meer, Oostmolenpark, Overzuid and Ouverture being constructed. Goes is now the fourth economic centre in Zeeland.

New districts are in preparation, amongst them Goese Schans, Mannee and Aria, where 3,000 new houses are to be built.

It gains the more it gives, and then it rises with the fall. So let go, just let go, cause there's beauty in the breakdown.

In the early days of GO Transit its locomotives were redundant on weekends and, at different times, were leased to both CN and CP for weekend use. Here GO GP40TCs 9807, 9806 and 9805 pass Komoka leading an eastbound CN freight.

Stars still burn bright

Seasons change overnight

As we find our way, the times, they come and go

Look back in love

A new day rises above

With a wind that comes to carry you back home

All your anger, all your hurt

Doesn't matter in the end

Those days go by

And we all start again

What you had and what you lost

They're all memories in the wind

Those days go by

Street photography in St. Gallen, Switzerland. This time I decided to deviate from my usual practice of taking black and white and focused on color photos.

One of the last shots I take on this day. Waiting for the train to go home I spotted this stairway with the light falling in. I love the shadow in this picture.

Taken from the cable car on the mountain Černá Hora. At down you can see The Treetop Trail, where we were before :)

Černá Hora (meaning Black Mountain) - 1299 m above sea level - mountain in Czech Republic in the eastern part of the Karkonosze Mountains, located in the area of the Karkonosze National Park, next to the spa town Janské Lázně. On the south-eastern slope there is a ski resort, which includes a gondola lift that can takes you to the top. On the top of the mountain there is a TV transmitter and an iron observation tower with a panorama of the Karkonosze Mountains.

Tim's coach, parked up on a field at the back of Babbinswood farm — where he's a handyman and great bloke. It might be a close thing: which of us turns our vehicle into our home first; neither of them are going anywhere soon :-)

The wonderful view from Elgol from last year when I made a trip up North. I feel a need another trip out to some mountains. I'm torn between another trip to Scotland or to the Dolomites. My hip isn't the best, but I'm sure great landscapes would make it better. I have to prepare a slideshow today for a presenation I have to do this weekend to The local Butterfly Conservation members day. Going going gone is by The Felice Brothers.
