Vancouver Island is well known for its coastal rainforest of intense green color and density. This picture was taken at Pedder Bay Marina, the duck was just swimming among the various boats when it caught my eye. I used one of the boat as a blind to be able to approach closer to the duck. The intense color of the water is a reflection of the forested surrounding of the marina.

PALM BAY, Cliftoville Kent, a area along the cliff tops, mainly for dog walks, runners ect, with the councils policy to let the grass areas go wild, is a sheer delight, the area is now filled with wild flowers, and tall grasses bees and butterfly's, house sparrows galore. Also a lot of meadow pipits, many with food for the youngsters in the long weedy areas, shows just how a small policy change has brought so much life to a area not known for it.

Common Tern (Sterna hirundo)
This is a breeding adult doing it's best to chase me away. They come in fast and right at you. When they fly up just inches from your head, they poop on you. I held my camera up and just held the shutter trigger down hoping I got something. I did this several times and this is the best one. I did have to clean off the camera. Nickerson Beach Park, Long Island NY.
For those that aren't familiar with London this is the Greenwich foot tunnel. It runs under the Thames and connects Greenwich with the Isle of Dogs, leading onto Canary Wharf a mile or two beyond. At both ends of the foot tunnel is a lift plus a set of stairs. I used to know the exact number of steps to get to street level because when I was still working my folding bicycle and I used to go through this foot tunnel twice a day and more often than not one or both of the lifts would be out of service. Not sure how reliable they are these days but what I can say is when I used it on my recent visit it was working just fine. So this is me up against the wall of the lift shooting back through the glass doors towards the tunnel just as the doors have closed.
