In stormy weather and slow shutter speeds the ghosts of long dead seagulls can be seen returning to their native lands............
Best seen at full screen.
This was my pet Ghost Mantis. I named him Patrick as a joke reference to the movie Ghost but now I'm wondering if I should have named him Bacon Head.
These guys are native to Africa but this specimen was captive bred.
This is an old picture i have, that i just had to new edited :)
I had a dream last night
You were there
You held my hand so tight
I thought I'd just die
Do you remember?
When we use to have
So much fun
I used to cry sometimes
Those days are gone
Did you remember?
(Do you re...?)
I wanna go back to
Back to the days
When I needed
A little more fun
When I believed I
I believed I
Could fly so high
Through the clouds
"Today I'm kinda feelin' like a ghost
Call my friends but ain't nobody home
Tell myself I'm fine but I don't really know
I'm just scared that I'll end up, I'll end up, I'll end up alone
I never let it show
But I feel like a missed call on a phone
Tryna live my life, pay-as-you-go
But I'm so scared that I'll end up, I'll end up, I'll end up alone
You know I'm like a ghost, sometimes I have to fade
And it haunts me that I have to be this way
You say it's gone cold, I say I'll do better
But I always seem to disappear again
You know I'm like a ghost, I see it in your face
And it haunts me that I have to be this way
You say it's gone cold, I say I'll do better
But I always seem to disappear again
You know I'm like a ghost"

South Western Trains Sprinter unit 159020 cuts a sinister appearance at St Denys station, Southampton as it hustles through with the 8.05pm Reading - Salisbury Reception Line (5Y73) empty stock move.
Was there a driver in the cab? Not entirely apparent from here.....

Ghost Ranch is a 21,000-acre retreat and education center located close to the village of Abiquiú in Rio Arriba County in north central New Mexico, United States. It was the home and studio of Georgia O'Keeffe, as well as the subject of many of her paintings. Wikipedia - We just returned from a long weekend in Santa Fe, NM
“I assure you; while I look like a ghost, I'm no spirit or demon. I'm nothing but a girl struggling to make her way in an intolerant world. I bleed, I love, and someday, I'll die.”
― Leanna Renee Hieber
Legend has it two girls drowned in the river below and specters of them will be seen occasionally -- especially around Halloween. . .
Ghost brides wear black b/c wearing white would be like, you know, why bother.
This is a real photo of a real person, obviously digitally manipulated....with some flourishes added.
It's here. It's Halloween. :-))
I thought I'd close with a not so creepy photo....and least I hope not creepy. (remember, she's real ;-)
This concludes my run of the Halloween Horror Follies. I again thank you all for the views and comments and faves.
It's been a lot of fun for me being able to share them with you. And you've been enormously kind, supportive and likewise fun.
I'm going to now take a little break from Flickr for just a bit.
Happy Halloween (or whatever) and with that I send you all my most sincere, heartfelt, fondest BOO!!!
It's almost 10pm and a deserted Exeter Central sees the arrival of a pair of DMUs with Pacer 143618 leading.
The train is in fact an empty stock repositioning move from platform 3 running under the headcode 5E57. It will shortly depart from this platform (2) as the 9.55pm to Exeter St Davids (2E57). The unit on the back is Sprinter 150265.
I selected this frame from the sequence because of the way the driver was highlighted while the front-end remained largely in shadow.
I've switched commenting off for this one.

“Already the dandelions
Are changed into vanishing ghosts.”
- Celia Thaxter.
6hr exposure on Kodak Ektacolor paper (very dull & overcast this afternoon).
I composed this image of a ghost town building in an advanced state of decline during a road trip to SE Alberta, Canada and a visit to the ghost town of Dorothy.
Dorothy was a thriving small town until its nearby mine closed and the trains no longer stopped there. A few hardy souls still live in Dorothy, but the above is an example of what surrounds them, as nature retakes the land.
For Macro Mondays theme, "Spooky"--ghost measures about 1.75" wide, horizontal dimension of image kept at 3".
I wonder how long ago it was that this ceased being a cabinet maker? It’s now occupied by an office concern.
Stoke Newington High Street, London. Some old advertising resurfaces above a modern Turkish restaurant.
Ghost Crabs (Ocypode Quadrata). Focus stacked for 70+. Made the background come out odd but over all I like the result
Ghost sculpture with bicycle by artist Albert Szukalski in Rhyolite, Nevada. Rhyolite is a ghost town in Nye County, in the U.S. state of Nevada.
... just an old good song ;)
Devenir gris
Devenir gris
One man on a lonely platform
One case sitting by his side
Two eyes staring cold and silent
Show fear as he turns to hide
Aaah, we fade to grey (fade to grey)
Aaah, we fade to grey (fade to grey)
Un homme dans une gare isolée
Une valise a ses cotés
Des yeux fixes et froids
Montre de la peur lorsqu'il
Se tourne pour se cacher
Aaah, we fade to grey (fade to grey)
Aaah, we fade to grey (fade to grey)
Sent la pluie comme un été Anglais
Entends les notes d'une chanson lointaine
Sortant de derriere d'un poster
Espérant que la vie ne fut aussi longue
Aaah, we fade to grey (fade to grey)
Aaah, we fade to grey (fade to grey)
Feel the rain like an English summer
Hear the notes from a distant song
Stepping out from a back shop poster
Wishing life wouldn't be so long. . .
Look closely, a deer wondered into my LE and the kicker is, I never even saw it, from my experience of watching Deer, they are the woodland masters of stealth and camouflage, to be that present in the shot it must have been there staring at for a good few seconds, whilst I was rummaging through my camera kit bag for a lens cloth at the same time the exposure was running, sometimes there are moments in photography that can really surprise you.
I hope everyone is well, Happy New Year and so as always, thank you! 😊
I discovered this ghost in my garden, all excited about some autumnal goodies he'd just spotted!
I thought it would make a nice photo for Halloween 🍁
The Tropico Gold Mine opened in the 1890s as the Lida Mine. It thrived until the late 1950s, by which time the cost of extracting gold nearly equaled the fixed market price of $35 per ounce.
Its owners turned it into a tourist ghost town but shut it down in the mid-1980s, The cost of insurance became to expensive to maintain the business.
