Golden Horn Batholith consists of 45 million year old (rapakivi texture) granite, which is quite interesting chemically, and is the type locality for 3 minerals - see: www.washingtonminerals.com/ghb.htm

Seen here operating a route 9 service from Exeter to Honiton.

Seen with a 555 service to Heathrow Airport is 20182, BX70GHB, these were brought for the Hotel Hoppa services and have spent time in Diamond's local fleets due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

It was some years after the formation of the National Bus Company that a "corporate" livery was imposed. There were two variants of this notably uninspired colour-scheme. In its "poppy red" form it was to be found from Cumberland Motor Services to Hants & Dorset. "Leaf green" was imposed everywhere from Lincolnshire Road Car Co. to Southern Vectis, on the Isle of Wight.

In South Wales however, there was one little pocket of partial independence. I don't know the historical reasons for it, but the business of Jones of Aberbeeg came to be incorporated into that of the neighbouring "company" operator, Red & White. Jones were allowed to perpetuate their blue livery, albeit applied in the NBC house style.

The bus is a standard ...indeed THE standard NBC single-decker, a Leyland National ...the worst buses ever built. It is numbered into the Red & White fleet numbering-system in which the last two digits, in this case 74, were the year the bus was new. It is seen standing in Newport Bus Station on Friday 25th March 1977, about to depart for Ebbw Vale via Pontypool. I was in Newport the other day ...in fact I parked in the multi-storey car park in the background. I didn't see any sign of Jones of Aberbeeg. Is the company still going?

Recently acquired for Yorkshire Tigers new operation in Wombwell is this Optare Solo M880 YJ59 GHB which was new to GHA Coaches in November 2009 and served with the company until its demise in July of last year.

Still awaiting a Tiger fleet number, YJ59GHB is seen in use by Waterloo depot on a 231 service to Wakefield.

Another cargo flight into Edinburgh, this time a rarer sight at EDI, was this Poste Air Cargo (formerly Mistral Air) series 400 which first flew with Alaska Als in 1999.

I can't quite place this on Google Street View. It was taken on Friday 20th February 1976 somewhere on the walk across the hilltops from Rhymney to Tredegar. I had such an aversion to travelling any distance by ordinary stage carriage bus service, that I preferred to catch a train to Rhymney and walk. Tredegar was not on the railway, or at least had no passenger service. The train journey was of great beauty too, and I especially remember a little halt called Cefn On, overshadowed by a tenebrous tunnel portal edged with harts tongue fern and partially obscured by hanging curtains of ivy. I can't find it on Google Maps, nor is such a station known to Realtime Trains. I reached for my trusty Ordnance Survey One-Inch Sheet, no. 154 ...looking a little dog-eared now and probably in my coat pocket when I took the photo... on which a station corresponding with my recollection is shown south of Caerphilly. Sure enough, Cefn On is the name of the hill above the tunnel. Back to Realtime, where the station now appears, rather prosaically, as Lisvane & Thornhill.

I remember a cemetery on either side of the road, just inside the town of Tredegar. That may be part of it at the right edge. The bus was a Plaxton-bodied Leyland Leopard PSU4B/2R, new to Hills in October 1974.

The Chevrolet Corvette (C3) by Bill Mitchell as chief stylist and Zora Arkus-Duntov as chief engineer. Engines and chassis components were mostly carried over from the previous generation, but the body and interior were new. It set new sales records with 53,807 produced for the 1979 model year. The C3 is the third generation of the Chevrolet Corvette, and marks the second time the Corvette would carry the Stingray name, though only for the 1969 - 1976 model years. This time it was a single word as opposed to Sting Ray as used for the 1963 - 1967 C2 generation
