Lake Königssee (or Königsee) lies just a couple of miles south of the town of Berchtesgaden and is Germany's deepest and cleanest lake.
For my up coming review. From the same interview (Z space) distance it looks like you can match f2.8 on a FF camera with the GH4.
When I close the speedbooster down slightly I can make the bokeh balls on the GH4 nice and round and about the same size as the FF. The shirt on the doll has the same fall off in terms of focus, but if you look at the eyebrow the FF sensor seems to have an advantage for thin DOF.
I was walking past the window this morning and saw something hit the ground near our snag that the Red-bellied Woodpecker nest is in. I looked with the scope and saw it was a baby bird. One of the parents was near the top, and I'd heard a lot of commotion from them this morning when I was in my blind but couldn't see them. We've seen Grackles and yesterday a crow on top of the snag, near the cavity. I think a crow might have pulled little Arby out and dropped him. I just fed him a moth so big that I think he will be full for a little while. We're hoping our tall extension ladder will reach, so we don't have to take him to the rehab hospital.
Update: There's no getting Arby back in the cavity. He's eaten 5 wild blueberries, a large moth, a spider, and a fly. Headed to the store for meal worms.
It's a good thing we couldn't reach the cavity, as when I went out later in the afternoon there was a Rat Snake coming out of the cavity (unfed). I now wonder if one of Arby's parents pulled him out of the cavity, a few inches up to the flat-topped snag to get away from the snake, and then he fell off - he hit the ground on the side opposite the cavity. It will remain one of life's mysteries.
06/13 Update: Arby slept thru the night and isn't used to it getting light so fast at 6am. Once he woke up, he was really hungry and has had about 5 mealworms. They weigh 8g at hatching, and he is now 30g. I saw his parents feeding at the cavity exactly one week ago, so he is probably about 7 days old. Thanks to everyone for your good wishes!!
6/14 Update: Yesterday a woman from the rehab center suggested that we put up a box on the snag and put him in and play his call, which we did. One parent came to the tree briefly, looked into the empty cavity, and left, never going to the box. I also learned that when he imprinted on me he would be unreleasable, which I didn't know, so I reluctantly took him to the rehab hospital this morning. I've requested that he be released here, so hopefully I will get to see Arby in a few weeks, flying free, and maybe he'll get to see his parents again.

It's almost X-mas, why not.. Really like the expression with the feathers up. Digiscoped.
Another episode of Bad-Dutch-Birdnames is the Woudaap, which in English means Monkey of the Woods. Nice name for a small heron that lives between the reed and eats fish, frogs a.s.o, makes sense right? Actually, first it was called 'Woudaapje' (small monkey of the woods), but some bored Dutch language-enthusiasts decided to make the difference even bigger by deleting the small size: Woudaap.
I remember being really proud of my first picture of one when a girlfriend replied to be REALLY disappointed because it was a bird. "Is that all?! You promised a monkey!" More episodes to come.
