MTSE (Metuchen NJ-Selirk NY Auto Rack) with 94 cars is passing the Indian Point Nuclear Generating Station located in Buchanan N.Y. on the east bank of the Hudson River. Even though it's 5 months old C40-8W 6162 is still looking pretty sharp as it rolls 94cars,4300 tons, north on 07-13-1993 through Tomkins Cove N.Y. along with SD40-2 6472. Conrail's River Line. Howard Kent Jr.
Hate the windmills in the landscape or intergrate and use them. I rather use them. I think it is much better than the dirty smoke from the nuclear power plant in the background.
The the star-like effect is caused by "Asterism". Asterism is generated by reflections of light from twin-lamellae or from extremely fine needle-shaped acicular inclusions within the stone's crystal structure. A common cause is oriented sub-microscopic crystals of rutile within the gem mineral.

NO GIFS AND ANIMATED ICONS, PLEASE!
The Shannon hydro-electric scheme was constructed between 1925 and 1929 to harness the power of the river where it underwent a fall of nearly 35 metres in the final stages of its route to tidal waters at Limerick. The civil engineering works were undertaken by the German company Siemens-Schuckertwerke and on completion the power station at Ardnacrusha was the largest hydro-electric generating plant in the world. Initially there were three vertical shaft Francis turbine generators installed and in 1934 a single vertical shaft Kalan turbine generator was added, giving a total output of 85mw from an average head of 28.5 metres.
I have plenty of more shots of the Blue Lagoon I could upload but I'm aware maybe regular visitors to my photostream may be losing interest. Last night I finished post-production on my Blue Lagoon shots and this is one of my favourites though so hopefully you'd agree I should continue at least for a couple more days.......

From Wikipedia : "The Blue Lagoon (Icelandic: Bláa lónið) geothermal spa is one of the most visited attractions in Iceland. The spa is located in a lava field in Grindavík on the Reykjanes Peninsula, southwestern Iceland. Bláa lónið is situated approximately 20 km (12 mi) from the Keflavík International Airport and 39 km (24 mi) from the capital city of Reykjavík, roughly a 20 minute drive from the airport and a 50 minute drive from Reykjavík.
The warm waters are rich in minerals like silica and sulfur and bathing in the Blue Lagoon is reputed to help some people suffering from skin diseases such as psoriasis. The water temperature in the bathing and swimming area of the lagoon averages 37–39 °C (99–102 °F). The Blue Lagoon also operates a research and development facility to help find cures for other skin ailments using the mineral-rich water.
The lagoon is a man-made lagoon which is fed by the water output of the nearby geothermal power plant Svartsengi and is renewed every two days. Superheated water is vented from the ground near a lava flow and used to run turbines that generate electricity. After going through the turbines, the steam and hot water passes through a heat exchanger to provide heat for a municipal water heating system. Then the water is fed into the lagoon for recreational and medicinal users to bathe in."

A uniquely shaped hotel indeed! The front of the hotel looks like the open mouth of a fish indicating prosperity. Looking at the hotel from the side it looks like a scallop representing good fortune. The hotel is made up of 10,000 glass panels and is lit at night via hydroelectric powered LED lights. The power is generated from the water from lake Yanqi. The inaugural event was the 2014 Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting.

Location: Klipheuwel near Durbanville.
Description: On Friday afternoon my mate Andre and I decided to visit some of Durbanville’s most photogenic subjects to see if we could find any new and interesting compositions.
Of course we simply had to go and check out the three gigantic wind generators that are parked in a field near the small village of Klipheuwel.

Southbank was formerly an industrial area and part of South Melbourne. It was transformed into a densely populated district of high rise apartment and office buildings beginning in the early 1990s as part of an urban renewal program. Though few buildings built before this time have been spared redevelopment, Southbank does retain some significant heritage including many buildings in the major cultural precinct at the St Kilda Road end and some warehouses and wharves towards the area now known as "South Wharf".
The central feature of Southbank is Southgate Arts and Leisure Precinct, a retail, eating, and entertainment precinct on the southern bank of the Yarra River. Southgate features the iconic sculpture Ophelia by Deborah Halpern, which is the big Y symbol (representing Melbourne) that stands at Bear Brass cafe. The entertainment precinct extends along the Yarra and includes Crown Casino. The suburb also includes an office precinct and a hi-density residential precinct which has many skyscrapers, the tallest of which is the Eureka Tower. The Queensbridge Precinct includes Queensbridge Square, a pedestrian plaza and meeting place.

It's located close to the brink of the horseshoe Falls in Niagara Falls Canada and is based on a design by Nikola Tesla.
