Last night when I was sleeping

You were watching over me

While I dreamt about tomorrow

You knew my every need

Now another day is waiting

For me to make it through

And there's no way that I could face it without You

Before the day slips away

I want to stop and say

I love You I love You

Before the world rushes in again

I want to stop and say there's none above You

There's none above You

I'll just be still and know You are God

Be still and know You are God

There's something about the morning

The stillness of it all

It calms my heart to hear You

When You gently call

Here I am in Your presence

Where I long to be

Alone with You in the silence

Bring down Your love and Your mercy

Whisper softly to me

My family and I just returned from an (all too short) trip to Gatlinburg, Tennesse and the adjacent Great Smoky Mountains National Park in eastern Tennessee/Western North Carolina. www.nps.gov/grsm/index.htm

While in the area we stayed at The Lodge at Buckberry Creek www.buckberrylodge.com/ which proved to be a thoroughly enjoyable and quite rustic place to stay. It also afforded us a nice view of Clingmans Dome - the second highest mountain in all of the entire Appalachian range...(although to be honest, at 6600', it would be considered a "hill" at best if it was located in the western united states).

This photo is a 3-shot bracketed HDR from our patio toward Clingmans dome (center of photo). While I didn't get many photographic opportunities while on the trip, Ill post what I was able to capture over the next few weeks.

Tao, tao

Sa mundong ito

Every year for last few years I have taken Fall vacation, and this year was no exception. I love going here and seeing the beautiful scenery. This time was different. The weather wasn't the most cheery, but it wasn't raining either. I brought several different shooting lens, and got all kinds of pictures. This was one of the ones I felt was best, although it was taken with cell phone camera. This angle was awesome, with the sun fighting overcast clouds. As the ray of lights cascaded over the fall color. I went nuts, seeing eagles soaring around the cannon. I didnt know which camera to us. I am not sure, if i captured them in flight. But their size from my distance, had to put their wing span a easy four feet. I couldn't wait to get home to print this picture. i made several copies of this picture for friends. An one for my own original collection. Love the fall colors of The Smokey Mountains.

A breathtaking view of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, nestled at the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains. The morning light breaks through dramatic clouds, casting soft rays across the rolling hills and misty ridges. From the Space Needle in the lower left to the iconic Park Vista Hotel perched above town, the scene blends natural beauty with small-town charm. Captured on a summer morning, this image reflects the serene majesty and layered depth of the Smokies—where town and wilderness meet in perfect harmony.

Take this world from me

I don't need it anymore

I am finally free

My heart is spoken for

Oh and I praise you

Oh and I worship you...

Covered by your love divine

Child of the risen Lord

To hear you say "This one's mine"

My heart is spoken for

Now I have a peace

I've never known before

I find myself complete

My heart is spoken for

Oh and I praise you

Oh and I worship you...

Covered by your love divine

Child of the risen Lord

To hear you say "This one's mine"

My heart is spoken for

By the power of the cross

You've taken what was lost

And made it fully yours

And I have been redeemed

By you that spoke to me

Now I am spoken for

Covered by your love divine

Child of the risen Lord

To hear you say "This one's mine"

My heart is spoken for

Take this world from me

Don't need it anymore...

I went to the smoky mountains last week, unfortunately, my trip ended early when I fell and busted up my knee. I cut it on a rock pretty deep. I was in the Pisgah National Forest, headed to Looking Glass Falls when I noticed a group of photographers standing by the road as I passed by in my truck. I stopped and asked them where they were photographing the river, one man told me and as I was trying to negotiate my way down the river bank, I slipped and fell and my body was twisted to where I was perpendicular to the ground, or in this case, the rocks. I hit face and knee first busting my lip, knee and lens and camera. I didn't realize how badly I was hurt. I just thought my lip was busted. At this time I didn't even notice my knee, I was more concerned and pissed off that I had broken my lens and maybe, my camera. The lens went flying off along with the lens cap, the monitor cover and the hoodman eye cup that I was using. I tried gathering all of these things and was successful with all but the eye cup. I tried snapping the shutter of my camera, Nikon D300S, and it worked. The lens wasn't attached but the camera fired and the shutter worked. I tried to put the lens back onto the camera but it fell right back off, and still the glass didn't break but the plastic part on the f mount on the lens was broken, preventing the lens from attaching to the camera. I wasn't happy. It was at this time that I noticed my leg felt a little wet below my knee and I thought it was just water until I looked down and saw my pants were soaked with my blood below my knee and then I kinda felt the pain. I didn't pull my pants leg up to look but I knew it was bad. I realized my trip was probably over since I didn't have a wide angle lens to shoot through or a right leg to stand on so I tried climbing out to get back to my truck. I somehow made it back up the hill that I fell from and limped back to my truck. I don't have a couple thousand dollars to give to the ER in Brevard or Asheville, N.C., so I made the decision to drive back to my fathers house in Atlanta, Ga., a 3 to 4 hour ride. My leg hurt but it wasn't excruciating pain, I thought I would be okay. I made it back to Atlanta at about nine last Wednesday night. I took off my clothes and showered and then saw the gash in my knee for the first time and I realized I should have gone to the doctor but my stubborn ass still didn't want to. When I woke the next morning, I went to a clinic here in Atlanta, figuring that would be cheaper than the ER, Well they cleaned me up and sent me to the ER anyway. I told then I didn't have insurance and couldn't pay what ever it was going to cost and the doctor told me that they couldn't refuse me treatment so off to Fayette/Piedmont ER I went. They said they couldn't close the wound because I had waited too late and it they did then bacteria could grow inside the wound. I go back on Sunday to have them close the wound. They shot me up with anti biotics and gave me a prescription for anti-biotics and pain meds. My leg hurts and is swolen but I am okay and I hope my leg will be okay. My camera seems to be fine, although I will have to have it cleaned and checked out by someone who knows more than I do. My 18-55mm lens is a gonner but it was the kit lens and will be easy to replace. The fact that it was a cheap lens and the F mount on the back of that lens was made of plastic rather than metal, probably saved my camera. I have a great big scratch on my camera body now but it seems to work okay. I would have really been ticked if I had to buy a new camera just because I was an idiot. My lesson from this at 52 years old is to listen to that little voice in my head when it tells me to do something or not do something. I didn't listen when it told me not to try to go to the river bank and just move on down the road, nor did I listen when it told me to go to the ER right away. Hopefully I can do things differently if something like this happens again. Thanks for your time,

Mike

Inspired by the Asin music HANGIN

O, hangin (o, hangin)

Pinapaya mo ang aking damdamin

O, hangin (o, hangin)

Linutas mo ang aking mga suliranin

Hanging maitim ang nasa bayan

Likha ng usok sa pagawaan

Ito'y 'di mo masilayan

Dito sa bundok at kabukiran

Punong kawayan ang aking nakikita

Buhay ng karamiha'y sa kanya gumagaya

'Di tiyak kung saan pupunta

Bawat galaw, hangin ang nagdadala

Aking himig, inyong maririnig

Sa hangin na nasa paligid

Kasabay sa ibong nagliliparan

At kaluskos ng dahon sa palayan

Buhay ko'y katulad niya

Kung saan-saan napupunta

Dahil sa himig na aking dala

At sa hawak kong gitara
