HACK GARDENSCAPES – NEW ACRES NOW!
The garden at Sissinghurst Castle in the Weald of Kent, near Sissinghurst village, is owned and maintained by the National Trust. It is among the most famous gardens in England.
Sissinghurst's garden was created in the 1930s by Vita Sackville-West, poet and gardening writer, and her husband Harold Nicolson, author and diplomat. Sackville-West was a writer on the fringes of the Bloomsbury Group who found her greatest popularity in the weekly columns she contributed as gardening correspondent of The Observer, which incidentally—for she never touted it—made her own garden famous. The garden itself is designed as a series of "rooms", each with a different character of colour and/or theme, the walls being high clipped hedges and many pink brick walls. The rooms and "doors" are so arranged that, as one enjoys the beauty in a given room, one suddenly discovers a new vista into another part of the garden, making a walk a series of discoveries that keeps leading one into yet another area of the garden. Nicolson spent his efforts coming up with interesting new interconnections, while Sackville-West focused on making the flowers in the interior of each room exciting.
For Sackville-West, Sissinghurst and its garden rooms came to be a poignant and romantic substitute for Knole, reputedly the largest house in Britain, which as the only child of Lionel, the 3rd Lord Sackville she would have inherited had she been a male, but which had passed to her cousin as the male heir.
The site is ancient— "hurst" is the Saxon term for "an enclosed wood". A manorhouse with a three-armed moat was built here in the Middle Ages. By 1305, Sissinghurst was impressive enough for King Edward I to spend the night. In 1490, Thomas Baker purchased Sissinghurst. The house was given a new brick gatehouse in the 1530s by Sir John Baker, one of Henry VIII's Privy Councillors, and hugely enlarged in the 1560s by his son Sir Richard Baker, when it became the centre of a 700-acre (2.8 km2) deer park. In 1573, Queen Elizabeth I spent three nights at Sissinghurst.
a printer's step wedge… and it starts to glide… and grows more organic…
after the architectural landscapes, the human landscapes, the gardenscapes in memory of Talbot… now seems to be the time for more abstract landscapes of our own mind…
Agfa Brovira paper, expired probably some time in the 40s…
And as the Spring sun begins to set to the west, what Marvelously Magnificent Mischief would you and your very lovely lady like to instigate this evening? Don't Be Shy and Bashful -- Notorious things happen here on the Las Vegas Strip, so go ahead and make It Legendary!
In the meantime, there are several world-class restaurants lining the Lake Of Dreams and therefore you and your very lovely lady need to quickly make your way to one of those fine dining establishments before all the lakeside patio dining tables are taken up -- can you DIG It! And I'd recommend getting on over to the SW Steakhouse and their romantic patio dining terrace overlooking the Lake Of dreams.
There are a number of very swanky nightclubs on this resort campus: TRYST, XS, but I'd also recommend the cozy EASTSIDE cocktail lounge in the Encore. The Eastside Lounge has a two drink minimum and features live music and a suitable dance floor. Michael Monge holds Court at the Eastside and does Sammy Davis Jr., Frank Sinatra, and Dean Martin like no one I've ever heard, so you need to get your very lovely lady over there tonight for some Bossa Nova, Swing, Hustle, and Foxtrot dancing. Can You DIG It!

Don't you think this was what Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, and Dorothy Lamour really had in mind on their merry way on the 'Road To Bali.'
Just before the Coronavirus Global Pandemic hit Las Vegas in 2019, there were rumors about the Fontainebleau being blown up, that the big blue building would never be completed -- that the project was a failure! 😧 But It Survived!
You and your lovely lady were here in 2007, 2008, and 2009 when this big blue building was still under construction and was beginning to rise high above the Sahara, the Riviera, and far higher than Circus-Circus on the North Las Vegas Strip. You and your lady watched and knew way back then that someday the Fontainebleau might be even taller and even much more grand than the unfinished observation tower of the Stratosphere Hotel & Casino! 😃 You promised yourself that one day you would take your lovely lady drinking, dining, and dancing at the best steakhouse and at the best nightclubs in that big blue building -- and that you would do so because you love the Fabulous Fontainebleau! 💙🌹So here and now in 2025, when are you going to fulfill that promise you made to yourself? 😏
Your very lovely lady will be very impressed with your keen sense of grand palatial luxury and glamour if you were to arrange for her to have a nice luxurious fully-stocked pool cabana for the entire week -- Don't you think... And while your very lovely lady is busy working on her Las Vegas suntan, you can give yourself an hour or two to visit with the Dolphins, White Tigers, and White Lions living at the Siegfried & Roy Secret Garden. Don't forget to bring your digital camera. Those playful Dolphins may want to pose for you.

While you and your very lovely lady are having a nice leisurely lunch at Il Fornaio, a lot of folks are busy standing in line to check out of their hotel rooms. So aren't y'all grateful not to be one of those folks!
Because you and your very lovely lady are such well-seasoned practitioners of the High Art & Science of 'Leaving Las Vegas!' you two have arranged for a 3pm late check-out this Thursday by smart phone and a 3:30pm pick-up by the Bell Trans airport shuttle. Your return Frontier Airlines flight to Denver International Airport departs at 6pm. In the meantime, you and your very lovely lady need to enjoy your long leisurely lunch at this excellent Italian restaurant and you two need to decide how you want to spend the next three nights and four days on the Vegas Strip.
Whatever Marvelously Magnificent Mischief you and your very lovely lady conspire to instigate -- Make It Legendary -- Make It Notorious! And make some of that Mischief happen here at the New York-New York Hotel & Casino!
Taken while jogging at Barnes Common Nature Reserve after a Gym session at Kew Bridge. Found this by accident and looked quite lovely and also enigmatic. I had heard of some trimming and gardenscaping by the Borough of Richmond upon Thames to beautify the reserve but quite did not expect someting like this kind of bushscaping...
You and your very lovely lady need to arrive an hour early before the seating for ZUMANITY by Cirque du Soleil so that you two can get a spot at the G & G bar for pre-show cocktails. Order a round or two or three of frozen Mango Margaritas. Celebrate the very good fortune that allowed you and your very lovely lady to get excellent front row seats for this rousing topless stage show. GET HAPPY -- Because Life Is Good Here!

Don't spend the last several hours of your fabulous Las Vegas Vacation standing around in some long hotel check-out line or sitting around at some hotel airport shuttle station. Whip out your trusty Canon EOS 5D MK III and begin capturing the lush elegant beauty around you. The Las Vegas Strip is a magical place to be and you are one of the few photographers working the Strip with the Will to capture it all.
When you come to the Las Vegas Strip and to The PARK either for lunch, dinner, or for a show or athletic event at the T-Mobile Arena, be sure to stop and visit with the 50 foot tall lady dancing blissfully in the park.
