Olympia, Greece, 212AD.
With the Olympics about to begin in the UK here's a reminder of how things once were!
Note the Greeks also had issues with G4S and had to call in the troops!

Part of the sculpture of a dancer. The name of the sculpture is "Attitude." It's made of bronze, by Sterett-Gittings Kelsey, in 1999.
A replica of a life-sized, bronze sculpture in lower Mahattan. This piece, by Seward Johnson, has an interesting story, involving the destruction of the World Trade Center. (See next photo)
For the past few days, I've been uploading photos that I took at Grounds for Sculpture, in Hamilton, New Jersey, last Friday. I promise to stop for now! But before I do,here are just a few more.
This summer, G4S is featuring works of Seward Johnson. New pieces have been added, while some are just visiting as part of a tour of many places. I admire Johnson's depictions of everyday people, doing everyday things, and expressing a wide variety of emotions.
NEW YORK, June 3 - Demonstrators rallied outside a local office of British-Danish security company G4S, a contractor with the Israeli armed forces, prison service and security agencies, to denounce Israel's closure of the Gaza Strip and escalating attacks on Palestinian fishermen off its coast by the Israeli navy. I'd usually bin this without a thought, however given what it is and I didn't multi burst shoot its all I have.
Thanks for all the views, please check out my other photos and albums

Not my best set, these photos were plagued from the outset. Fisrtly, it was dark inside and no amount of flash would fill it. Since the long end of my lens only opened up to f5.6, it made shooting conditions difficult. A fast shutter speed, to freeze the action, didn't let in enough light, an ISO of 800 made shots grainy and the ignorant G4S security did not understand why a monopod didn't fall under the tripod ban, forcing me to shoot handheld. I've resurected a lot of shots using PSE7 but most were consigned to the recycling bin on my computers desktop.
NEW YORK, September 23 - Demonstrators rallied outside a Manhattan office of security contractor G4S, before marching twice through the building's lobby, to demand the company cut its ties to the Dakota Access Pipeline and Israel's prisons and detention centers, military and security forces, and checkpoints. NEW YORK, August 19 - Demonstrators rallied outside a Manhattan office building holding an office of the British-Danish security company G4S, a contractor with the Israeli prison system, before marching twice through its lobby to call for the release of Bilal Kayed, a Palestinian prisoner on hunger strike against his "administrative detention" by Israel. That's the title given to this sculpture. I've added a little bit of the effect, "dry brush," from Photoshop Elements, to bring my photo a step closer to a painting.
The sculptor is Seward Johnson. According to the sign accompanying "No Way!", Johnson was interested in some of the positive changes happening in Newark, New Jersey. He worked with photographs of actual people in the streets, and also used the people as models, to create a series of sculptures. Even the clothing depicted here was made to resemble the clothing of the people.

The Ginetta G4 was originally introduced in 1961 powered by a Ford 105E engine, and had a glass fibre GT style body, the suspension was updated to coil springing at the front with a Ford live axle at the rear. The G4 could be used as a competition car but was also a useable everyday roadcar. The Coupe was introduced in 1963 and sold alongside the open car, a BMC axle replacing the Ford rear axle. The series III version of 1966 added the then popular pop up headlights. Production stopped in 1968 but was revived in 1981 with the Series IV which was two inches wider and three inches (76 mm) longer than the III.
Production ceased in 1986, but was revised in 1991 with the redesigned Ser. IV which was rwo inches wider and 3 inches longer than the Ser. III, This is 1997 version powered by a Ford Zetec 16v DOHC engine

Been working on my MLP display in the doll room, I'm still working on rearranging the G4s but I'm pretty much done with the G1 and G3 pony displays... or would have been done if I didn't just buy some more ponies... derp >_<
Currently waiting on G1s UK Bow-tie & Applejack; Up, Up and Away and Sundance though honestly I'm not entirely sure where they are going just yet ::stares::. I'd still like a regular G1 Bow-tie and lots more babies some day.
For anyone curious, after lots of trial and error with using different things as risers so I could fit more ponies per shelf I ended up using empty nendoroid boxes as they just seemed to be the perfect uniform size and bonus I already had tons of the bloody things just laying around in stacks not doing anything but taking up space

Information:
Seen in Belfast City Centre, on the scene of an incident at Castle Court shopping centre.
Total units on scene included:
Ford Focus Estate patrol car
Armoured Land Rover Tangi
LDV Convoy Public Order Van / cell van
Skoda Octavia patrol car
Volkswagen Passat Estate Armed Response Vehicle.
One man in his twenties was arrested by police. I'm not sure of the reason why but it must have been serious, given the amount of police that were on scene.
Photographs of the other units (including more of the ARV) will be uploaded in the next few days.

Was meaning to blank the registration in this picture and re-upload ages ago but I forgot :) Should be plenty of pics to come throughout the week with the Olympic football on at Hampden. G4S couldn't supply the staff so Strathclyde Police are taking over (which is good for me :D) Was told by a friend that there was a Met Zafira parked in Hampden car park last week but I find this hard to believe :)
NEW YORK, April 22 - Activists protested a local office of British-Danish security conglomerate G4S, a contractor with the Israel prison service, after attacks on Palestinian political prisoners in Nafha prison culminated in a one-day hunger strike by 3,000 prisoners across four prisons on April 17, Palestinian Prisoners' Day. Prisoners appealed for international "days of anger" before reaching an agreement with prison authorities on April 21. (Photo by Joe Catron)

About 3,500 serving soldiers from the British troops have been called up at the last moment as replacement security staff for the LONDON 2012.
Initially G4S Secure Solutions (UK) has been appointed official Security Services Provider for the London Games in March 2011. Due to a shortage of adequately trained G4S security staff, the UK Govt announced that 3,500 British troops would be deployed with up to 2,000 more if needed only on July 12 2012, just 15 days before the Games.
G4S plc (formerly Group 4 Securicor) is a British multinational security services company, is the world's largest security company measured by revenues and has operations in more than 125 countries with over 657,000 employees.
Olympics staffing episode, a "humiliating shambles", wiped off ยฃ700 million worth of share value from beleaguered security firm G4S.

Hello, friends! It feels like it's been a very long time since I was in the routine of posting photos and commenting on yours! Come to think of it, Janice and I have no routine at all, since we moved on June 17. I guess that goes with the territory! We're still fighting with Verizon, as well, to get land line service and wifi. So, any posting I do needs to be in the office.
This too shall pass!
Yesterday, I returned to one of my favorite places in the world: Grounds for Sculpture. As the name implies, it's a large sculpture park, in Hamilton, NJ. Boy, did they improve during the eight months that Jan and I were in Ocean City! I've only begun to edit the photos.
Working toward more routine contact, soon, with my Flickr friends.
