Print run commissioned 20 top design studios / designers to contribute limited edition screenprints. These were exhibited at Kemistry Gallery and sold on Blanka, with profits to the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.
A healthy state of mind is about challenging yourself, creating something that takes you out of your normal comfort zone. Something that initially feels awkward often has more longevity. We decided to bastardise two popular movements: Pop and Op art - in a disposable way. One uses optical illusions and geometric abstraction the other is characterized by themes drawn from popular culture. If our healthy side is about challenging the norm then our un-healthy side is our ever-increasing reliance on recreational and prescription drugs as well as our battle with mass consumption.
Future proofing design is near impossible but decent ideas are permanent.

I Nothing But Thieves arrivano in Italia domenica 3 aprile con il loro tour europeo al Fabrique di Milano, che dopo lungo tempo può tornare a capienza piena, ed è Sold Out!
La band alternative rock inglese, a meno di un anno di distanza dal grande successo del loro terzo album Moral Panic, che ha raggiunto oltre 102 milioni di stream e ha vinto il Best Indie Act agli Awards 2021 di Global Radio, ha pubblicato il nuovo album Moral Panic II contenente cinque inediti, tra cui il singolo Futureproof prodotto da Richard Costey (Biffy Clyro, Haim, Foo Fighters).
Entrambi sono stati preceduti dall’EP “What Did You Think When You Made Me This Way” (2018), l’acclamato “Broken Machine” (2017), che si è posizionato alla #2 nella classifica degli album più venduti nel Regno Unito, e il disco d’esordio “Nothing But Thieves” (2015).
Gli ultimi anni per i Nothing But Thieves sono stati ricchi di successi. I am very impressed by Photoshop CS5. I haven’t used Photoshop since 2004 because I couldn’t afford it and Gimp (which is like Photoshop but free) allowed me to do everything I needed to do. But with CS5 Adobe has taken photo editing to a whole new level. Like so many others, my favourite new feature is the content-aware fill which you can see at work here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=NH0aEp1oDOI (Also see the ‘Note’ on the photo.)
Gimp has for a while now had a plug-in that does what content-aware fill does which Gimp called: Resynthesizer. You can see the Resynthesizer at work here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2gonFtc1yc . So the content-aware fill feature of CS5 is not really new. However, CS5’s content-aware fill is slightly faster, much easier to use, more accurate and yields neater results than the Resynthesizer.
Another thing that I really find useful with CS5 is the fantastic RAW converter. I was about to buy Nikon Capture NX2 just to do RAW conversion because it is so awesome, but I waited for the CS5 and I don’t see myself buying NX2 anymore. However, I am definitely considering buying CS5 especially to take advantage of the student discount. One of the best features of CS5’s RAW converter is the amazing noise reduction. I can see myself shooting at high ISO such as 6400, 12800 or even higher!
That being said I don’t think I will stop using Gimp, because sometimes CS5 complicates things unnecessarily. In editing this photo I had to switch back to Gimp simply because CS5 refused to lower the hue/saturation on a section of the image: it kept lowering the hue/saturation on the whole image. With Gimp all I had to so is select that section, desaturate it, and I was done!
