I am so in a funk. My BFF entered hospice this weekend-stage 4 breast cancer. I knew it was coming and I dread it, for her, for me for everyone.

It went from 0-100 with the weather here and fall is in full swing. I dislike fall...well I tolerate it. So many changes in the fall that I have never really enjoyed fall for what it has to offer. This does not add to my already funky funk. And the other half goes back to work tomorrow. I have enjoyed having him home all summer, the house was cleaned, dinner was cooked, he has been a regular house bitch and I will miss that dearly.

We were at the Dallas Arboretum Sunday, and stopped in the DeGolyer house, the original mansion on the site that is now the Dallas Arboretum, on White Rock Lake.

In the vast library room, the shelves were packed with dusty old tomes, among them this (sometimes redundant) set of Funk & Wagnalls encyclopedia.
