The Flick's Funfair area was our favorite part of Disney's California Adventure Park. Themed after the movie, "A Bug's Life", the decorations are fabulous and the rides are great for the younger kids too. Check out those firefly lights under the oversized clovers.
This Foden Fleetmaster, a whitemetal model with a cab seemingly cast from the old Davric plastic kit, has been in my collection for years but I wasn't happy with its crude finish in a bright orange that really didn't suit it. The time had finally come to strip it down and repaint it in matching colours to pull my Langley living wagon.
At the "Volksfest" it becomes more and more fashionable to wear traditional costumes and leather trousers, first of all for the young people.
Es wird immer angesagter, zum Volkfest in Tracht und Lederhosen zu gehen, vor allem bei den jungen Leuten.

Here's a brief motion picture glimpse into the bright lights and twirling rides of the Leeds Valentine Funfair 2011. The vast majority of the music pumping out of the sound systems in these places seems to be stuck in a timewarp from the mid nineties...so an appropriately piano synth-driven pop number from 1994 was selected for the video soundtrack!
I'm still experimenting with compression settings to try and get the best quality out of Flickr's video player. It's not yet perfect, but the results seem to be getting gradually better :-)

Macclesfield Wakes falls at the end of September and the last vestige of this old holiday is the funfair held on the car parks outside the station. This provided the opportunity for a Macclesfield Flickrmeet at which Andrew, Martin and myself braved the crowds to try to capture our own views of the fair.
It was loud, it was garish, it was full of young people having fun.
