We have been covered in smoke and haze from a number of major forest fires in Canada that drifted South to us.
Due to these fires, the Sunsets and Rising Moons have been very orange and pretty. However, it also makes it hard to get a sharp photo.. :(
We were hoping we could see the full Moon rise better from the top of Hurricane Ridge up in the mountains. But it was still quite hazy up there as well.

The beautiful full moon made it very difficult for me to drag myself into the house. I just wanted to stay outside and stare at it.
Have a terrific Tuesday :)
As the rising sunโs rays start to illuminate the clouds the full moon decides it is time to vacate the scene.
"If you shoot for the stars and hit the moon, it's OK. But you've got to shoot for something. A lot of people don't even shoot" . . . Confucius
I actually wanted to go to sleep, but then the light from outside shone very brightly. I could not resist and took my camera, but since our balcony is currently somewhat crowded, I had no place for the tripod. So this is a freehand capture.
Unfortunately the Red Moon Eclipse from Nov 19 was not visible in Germany, so I took my foto of the wonderful red moon from April.
I love watching chipmunks gathering the food and packing it to the full capacity of their cheeks :) This one was no exception ;))
OK, so I saw this at a gas station stop on a road trip and knew I just had to have it. Despite preferring to find empty cans, I decided to buy one. Cruising down the highway I found a little Forgiato Blow on Youtube to blast through my trucks speakers, I popped open the can and had a few sips. I wondered if the drink's objective would be achieved, especially the "Peerless and Fearless" part. I wondered if, after drinking, I would start flying flags from the back of my truck and maybe even wear a red hat.
Well it didn't take too long, only a couple of sips in fact, I turned off the rantings of a fool and pulled the truck over to the side of the road. I snapped back to reality, uttered an extended, "Yuck..." and emptied the rest of the can out onto the side of the highway. At that moment I thought, what BS this all is and knew that smashing up this can was going to be well worth the money I paid for it. And so it goes, another story and another can added to the collection!
FYI: Preparation of this can was as close as I want to come to cutting up a finger on the torn can's sharp edges or from the razor knife used to help model/release the wording that was on the back of the can. BTW: I was also quite pleased with the way this one turned out and instead of putting it in the bag with the rest of the cans, I told Marybeth that I should make a little stand and case to display it on a shelf. She gave me a look and walked away...

Itยดs always pretty amazing to me how the seasons transition so boldly here, fall has so much orange and red from the fallling leaves, the winter with drab browns and gray or white of snow and then spring with these awesome blue, green and bright orange from the flowers, grass and setting sun.
I think itยดs really refreshing to see the same place look so different all year round !!

Composite of two images shot last night. On the shot of the moon, I was testing out the capabilities of my new Nikon 200-500mm lens; this was shot at the full 500 which on my Nikon D7500 is equivalent to 750mm.
These birds had all eaten there full of something that had washed up. Not in a hurry to go anywhere! Taken in St Andrews State Park, FL!

First I heard, then I saw and finally I pressed the shutter button - only this one shot filled the frame as this Black Powerhouse disappared behind the reeds.

Nothing beats slipping into a bed made up with fresh sheets or wrapping yourself in a towel that's fresh from the laundry. No matter how fastidious your housekeeping may be, though, keeping that fresh-from-the-line scent once linens have been stored in a closet for a while is a challenge.
My grandma used the same soap to keep sheets and towels smelling fresh in an closet. And Pfund is still selling the soap.

Each full moon night something goes on the shrine to sacrifice.
May the goddess of the moon take it and answer with peace to it.

The path goes forward. It's full of sun lately and I hope that it will stay that way as long as possible. The path goes backwards as well. Bad reputation's there for some reason, but it is still the path. To take few steps back is sometimes better than to rush mindlessly into the muddy curves.
