“It is the other (not specifying which other or whether they are black or white or male or female or Jewish or Christian) who gives myself to me.”

-Martin Buber

It has been very difficult to preserve the integrity of this mystery in the church. The Christian history of the past two thousand years has been characterized by a continual tendency to reverse the event of incarnation and separate once again the divine and the human, Trinity and humanity, God and creation. This separation is then made permanent in theological and institutional structures. Christian sapiential theology, however, begins and ends in this unitive mystery of the cross and looks toward its eschatological fulfillment in a eucharistic plenitude.

-The future of wisdom : toward a rebirth of sapiential Christianity / Bruno Barnhart ; foreword by Cynthia Bourgeault ; afterword by Cyprian Consiglio.

“He would not kiss her mouth or allow her to caress him in tenderness.

He broke his fierce silence only to whisper

what wicked magic he was going to work until it took little more

than the husky rasp of his voice in her ear to bring her to the brink of fulfillment.

Had there been even a hint of brutality in his attentions,

she might have brought herself to hate him,

but his accomplished hands cherished her flesh as if it were his own private altar.

She’d never known such unbridled ecstasy. Or such misery.”

A promise is a cloud; fulfillment is rain.

Author: Proverb

Consider your own life: How many times a day does some situation

pop up that leads to moments of frustration and anxiety?

Surrendering your head to your heart in those moments will lead

you to balance and fulfillment.

As you listen to your spirit, peace follows.

So, follow your spirit.

Build your foundation in your heart.

Love must be your innermost and spontaneous response towards every person you encounter.

Say to yourself inside, "I just love."

Use these words as a key to start the engine running in your heart and watch life brighten with new love and understanding.

Surrender to your new awareness and let love unfold the purpose of creation to you.

Understanding fulfillment and love

Kabardino-Balkaria, Elbrus National Park, Adyr-Su River Gorge.

The most beautiful part of the gorge is at the end, where there are snow-capped mountain peaks and glaciers.

The people of the Caucasus call the mountain Ullu-Tau: “Mother Mountain” or “God’s Mountain”. They believe that if you come to the foot of Ullu-Tau in the Glade of Desires and ask the mountain for the fulfillment of your deepest desire, then it will certainly come true.

Private varnish on the back of the California Zephyr is in full homage and returns to home rails and in the most splendid locations on the eastern slope of the Great Divide along the Moffat Tunnel Route. Surely what these Budd standard dome cars were built for, dreamed up in Glenwood Canyon by a GM exec and scheduled for scenery; the California Zephyr was America’s Most Talked About Train.

A Symphony in Stainless Steel, ex-Chicago Burlington & Quincy, California Zephyr “Silver Solarium” complete with lit neon California Zephyr drumhead and 10/6 sleeper and CZ dome coach bring up the rear of Amtrak 5 on this glorious of early winter mornings on the hill. If only a 4 stripe set of PA’s in Rio Grande were leading. This was 2016, not 1949 or 1973, check that box, bucket list item fulfillment, I can quite now.

In two weeks, for the first time daily passenger service will cease on the Moffat Tunnel Subdivision. October 5 Amtrak begins its reduced schedules on the California Zephyr trains 5 and 6. Denver Union Station will play host to the CZ westbound number 5 on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday no trains in the evening on those days. Eastbound number 6 will come in Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday nights. No trains on Saturdays.

The California Zephyr is fast becoming dream again. I surely hope it will return to daily service.

For me this is especially frustrating because as many photos as you see in winter conditions in my catalog of work, these mornings are painfully rare and difficult to work and I get 4-5 a season usually and I know I can always count on Amtrak for a train to feature in a shot. Now my odds just got slashed as Union Pacific and BNSF rarely turn up at ideal times in these most favorable conditions. Things are about to get more difficult for my hobby, it might even persuade me to take some off and not worry about it. I am very happy I worked these shots as hard as I have in the last 3-5 years, I didn’t know this was coming but I’ve always had a set of reservations about things staying the same. I’ve seen things come and go and experience has taught me do it while you can.

Hopefully we can get through these COVID times and things will get back to normal. Amtrak has stated on their website officially the reason for the reduction in scheduling is the COVID pandemic.

"When we see that humility is something infinitely deeper than contrition, and accept it as our participation in the life of Jesus, we shall begin to learn that humility is our true nobility, and that to prove it in being servants of all is the highest fulfillment of our destiny."

~ Andrew Murray

Using a different image, the poet speaks of us humans as bees who harvest the nectar of the visible into the great golden honeycomb of the invisible. Whatever the concept—honeycomb or archetype—it is beautiful to think of a plane of existence on which every brave, compassionate, creative response to life—all that reaches fulfillment on the level of constant change—finds its way home to a deeper level on which it is preserved from getting lost forever.

I am beginning to wonder if we have to change the way we educate our children, they seem to have missed so much learning throughout the last 2 years? I have 9 grandchildren and they most certainly have suffered from the COVID-19 pandemic. I wonder, if we should come up with new ideas, we have many brilliant minds in our society, I think that they most definitely should be coming up with new ways as to how best educate our children and make life better for families. I wish that I had a brilliant mind because I most definitely would be working on this problem amongst others. So those of you who can, please put your minds to this gigantic problem. Education is a must, we learn to interact, debate (not quarrel), respect one another, find ways to work together successfully in teams, listen, and can spend our whole lives learning which is fulfilling! Thank you for putting up with my thoughts.

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️❤️❤️

No request is too extreme

When you wish upon a star

As dreamers do

Fate steps in and sees you through

When you wish upon a star

Your dreams come true

History is the encounter of the eternal and the temporal. As the word is a vessel for revelation and prayer, so history furnishes a receptacle for God’s actions in the world and the material for the fulfillment of humanity through time. Only rarely does the present shine a light that illuminates our understanding of the meaning of this encounter. But the past’s truth concerns us always and everywhere, and sometimes that which is elusive when close to us will reveal itself from a distance.

God’s Spirit speaks from the events of history, and our life is interconnected with this Spirit. Whenever our historical memory grows cloudy, the abandoned Spirit awakens in us, and we know again: we are servants of God’s grace.

Love Fulfills the Law.*

8

Owe nothing to anyone, except to love one another; for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.f

9

The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery; you shall not kill; you shall not steal; you shall not covet,” and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this saying, [namely] “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

10

Love does no evil to the neighbor; hence, love is the fulfillment of the law.

I had actually already resigned myself to the fact that there would be no Poppy Mondays this year. During the peak of the poppy bloom, I was either traveling or didn't have the time. And when I finally tried to go to the place I usually go, everything had already faded.

Actually.

But then I saw pictures of a bright red poppy field on Hang Van's Facebook page (a fellow photographer from the region). She had promised me we'd find some, but I just didn't really believe it.

Since the field is only 15 minutes from my apartment, I immediately set off and brought back this picture (among others, so there will be a few Poppy Mondays).

And so, for this week, I wish you the unexpected fulfillment of wishes you may have forgotten about. Because, as I now know, that feels really good. Many thanks to Hang Van.

Herzlichen Dank an Hang Van.

This picture perfectly complements my post from yesterday's Great Garden in Dresden. Both pictures convey the same message: the longing for colors that we feel every spring (well, I certainly do).

But while in Dresden, wish fulfillment is already in full swing, here we are looking down from the summit of the Old Wildenstein into a dark and almost colorless valley. And that's not just because the forests in Saxon Switzerland have been severely affected by drought and bark beetles (although that, of course, also plays a part).

Because, in addition to many dead spruce trees, there are also a whole row of birch and beech trees over there. But they're just not ready yet.

And so our gaze clings to the bright green branches of the pine tree in front of us and the moss at its feet. While the setting sun at least briefly transforms the sky into a sea of warm hues.

“Christianity finds in purity of heart and “unity of spirit,” a supreme and transcendent fulfillment of personality...Very often we identify “personality” with the illusory and exterior ego-self, which is not the true Christian “person.” In practice, a Christian can lose his “old man” and find his true self “in Christ.” The “death of the old man” is not the destruction of personality, but the dissipation of an illusion, and the discovery of the “new man” is the realization of what we were all along, at least as a radical possibility, by reason of the fact that man is the image of God.”

a thought-provoking reflection on the importance of self-care and inner transformation. This quote draws attention to the common practice of taking care of our external appearance, such as straightening our hair, while neglecting the well-being of our hearts and inner selves. Guevara’s words serve as a reminder that true fulfillment and happiness come from nurturing our inner selves and cultivating a compassionate and loving heart. It encourages us to prioritize self-reflection, emotional well-being, and personal growth in our daily lives.

he church of San Miguel begins to lift in the late fifteenth century , and the date of the existing plaque on the door of the Gothic facade of the Gospel ( 1484 ) , it is conceivable that its construction was the result of the appeal of the city the Catholic Monarchs in the visit of these in 1484 for the construction of a new temple in this area that the parish was served in an old chapel . Its construction , however , would last for centuries , resulting in an excellent set of cathedral porte where elements of the late Gothic Jerez with other initiation and fulfillment of the Renaissance and Baroque combine .

Instead the only route is fulfillment of the duty eternal responsibility has imposed on each one of us, while leaving the many threads of consequences in the hands of the One whom we can trust to weave them into goodness as a whole. We are not responsible for history, only for our actions within it. Yet that is enough, so long as we unite our efforts with the will of God, who ultimately governs all.

-Art and History in

Solzhenitsyn’s The Red Wheel, DAVID WALSH (SOLZHENITSYN AND

AMERICAN CULTURE THE RUSSIAN SOUL IN THE WEST Edited by David P. Deavel and Jessica Hooten Wilson)

"A picture is worth a thousand words."

Nothing symbolizes this saying more than that of the rose.

Above all, it stands for love and affection but also for passion, desire and seduction.

The golden rose symbolizes perfection and, as the Pope's rose, his blessing. The red rose is the archetype for joy of life, creativity and fertility. Whereas the white rose is a symbol of the light of virginity, spiritual fulfillment, innocence and voluntary poverty. A broader spectrum can hardly be achieved.

In Greek religion it is dedicated to the mother goddess and queen of heaven Isis and in Christianity it indicates the wounds and martyrdom of Chistus before and during his crucifixion.

The picture is complemented by water, the essence and source of all life on earth.

This Monday floral greeting really has it all. And I wish you that this strength will carry you and accompany you in the coming week (and beyond, of course).

The Easter Full Moon's glow, casting its light across the springtime earth, not only signifies the fulfillment of astronomical conditions but also illuminates a time of renewal, rebirth, and reflection for many around the world. Its occurrence varies each year, adding a layer of anticipation and variability to the onset of Easter celebrations. In this celestial dance, the Easter Full Moon serves as a reminder of the intricate ties between the heavens and human tradition, a beacon that has guided faith, culture, and the passage of time through the ages.

To the memory of Alyn Wallace, landscape astrophotographer, YouTuber, and author from Wales who died far too early.

Of course, a long-planned, single shot, no composite.

Have you ever analyzed and genuinely thought, "Why do I take photos?" And, again, "Why do I choose to share my photos on social media?" Is it an ego trip? Is it a business venture to sell my stuff? Is it a journalistic journey? Is it an on-going travel log? Is it a way to socialize with others with like interests? Is it an avenue to study other's work as a way of trying to perfect and improve my own? Is it a way to share my joy? Is it a way to face a challenge? Is there a "wow" factor about the universe that will be enhanced by sharing it with others? Is it a way to study the work of others to try and grasp a better understanding of that person through the study of their art? Why? Why do I take photos? I've considered the option to drop out of social media sites and keep my photos tucked away in my computer to be enjoyed by me and me alone. Would I find as much fulfillment in doing so? Or, am I much like a musician who plays the piano or violin and delights in sharing the end results of the perfection of my music with others because it has become so beautiful to myself that I now desire to share it with others? Why? Why do I take photos?

My hope is that the people who gazed through this bay window in this once elegant room fulfilled their dreams.

Happy Window Wednesday!

“One lovely day after another. Such peace! Meditation with fireflies, mist in the valley, last quarter of the moon, distant owls—gradual inner awakening and centering in peace and in harmony of love and gratitude. Yesterday I wrote to the man at McGill University who thought all contemplation was a manifestation of narcissistic regression! That is just what it is not. A complete awakening of identity and rapport! It implies an awareness and acceptance of one’s place in the whole, first the whole of creation, then the whole plan of Redemption—to find oneself in the great mystery of fulfillment which is the Mystery of Christ.

-Thomas Merton (May 23 and 25, 1965) from A Year with Thomas Merton

(Continuation. Please see the previous images and the story at the Sitting on Top of the World album if you feel like that).

The night before the past, unknown stranger wrote me via social network, if he could stay here for a night, about 2 hours earlier his expected arrival. He is from the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District, which is pretty far from here, and hitch-hiking to the sea through St. Petersburg. It turned out that he is an electrician and so, right now he’s finishing with fulfillment of my 3 wishes. In gratitude I offered him a lesson of post-processing “Roma style” (he is an enthusiast of the photography and dabbles in Photoshop). Almost at the end of the work on this photo, he asked me, does one future working in my version of PS. It turned out that not, but I’ve applied another nearby thing, very atypical to me, by his request, just to see. And that occurred to be the final touch of this work. How do you like it?

Someone who knows that love is not measured by the absence we leave in it, but by the time we devote to it.

That true desire is not fueled by absence, but by presence.

That the deepest desire doesn't rise from frustration, but from attentive fulfillment.

That a lasting relationship is not built on inaccessibility, but on availability.

Love should never be a doubt, but a conviction.

This is where fidelity is found: in daily attention.

Through the repetition of simple gestures, rather than by the rarity of passionate impulses.

► █░▓ THE STEEP PATHWAY is the road less commonly used, less comfortable, less frequented, less flat and less uniform. The unwrinkled road on the left is the right way. Exposed to the elements and rough, yet gentle and pleasing. Bare under the sky, but closer to Heaven. The pathway clearly marked and defined by our Lord Jesus Christ. Still it is less difficult than is generally assumed, is exclusively left to our choice, is cleaner and healthier in every intrinsic sense, bringing true fulfillment and made available to everybody. The choice for Christ the Savior is not reserved only for monastic life or the saints. It is an offer decidedly meant for any of us even before the moment of our conception and birth. It is the only left road to which you make the right turn.
