I debated posting another iris photo, but I really like this one. Plus the flowers will go by soon and I don't plan to take any more this season.
So have an iris!
The silhouette of this man stands out against the railway landscape, his slow gait evoking an invisible weight on his shoulders.
La silhouette de cet homme se découpe contre le paysage ferroviaire, sa démarche lente évoquant un poids invisible sur ses épaules
This is a photograph of a location that I gravitate towards in Peterborough. Since I started taking more pictures, this door — along with the pillars and walls that frame it— really attracted me. I have photographed it at night and during the day, in color and in black and white and I just love the dilapidated door and the colors and textures that surround it.
This time I saw someone entering the frame and decided to include them in the composition. It worked well because the colors of the shirt matched the sliver of cloudy sky painted on the adjacent wall. As corny as it sounds it was as if the person was walking into the clouds.
Matt has been shooting on Fuji cameras for several years now. I still use my Canon, but rarely use the lenses he has acquired throughout the years. Over the weekend he decided to sell off his Canon gear. We have spent the last couple days listing things in a new shop I opened on Etsy, So It Is Shop.
I have had the shop for almost a year now, but have had yet to do anything with it. I knew I would like to use it as a separate shop from my artwork to sell vintage items. I have many many things I inherited from my parents, my brother, and things from my childhood. Plus I love perusing antique stores and flea markets. These little cars were some of the matchbox cars my brother played with when he was little. I won't sell them all, but I do feel the need to begin the process for eventual downsizing. It seems like a monstrous job, but if I take it in pieces it may not be quite as overwhelming.
365 days of 2021 -- all over! I can't help but feel that this little flower is a bit of a cop-out on the last day, but December 31st also marked another date -- our final move to Florida. Time was tight.
As the plant thrives in areas of disturbed soil, it was often abundant in agricultural fields before the advent of herbicides. Flushes of poppies may still appear in fields where herbicides are not used, as well as those in fallow.

Brindley Place is a mixed use modern redevelopment of the area around the Birmingham Canal Navigations main line canal.
Named after the great 18th century engineer James Brindley, the area occupied by Brindley place was, at the height of Birmingham's industrial past, the site of many factories. By the 1970s as Britain's manufacturing went into decline, the factories closed down and the buildings lay derelict for many years.
Covering an area of 17 acres, the site was developed by the Argent Group from 1993 onwards.

This little family must have just shot up with grasses all around and over their heads I believe, but it’s possible I’m wrong I suppose. I’m often wrong about things - like yesterday when I thought my renovations would carry on smoothly once the plumber came to remove the radiator so the work could be continued. I was definitely wide of the mark as the plumber never turned up 😱 the builder can’t get any further and had five days this year to do five days work and has now lost almost one…..the plumber said he will definitely go today when I rang him after the builder rang me…edifices in nature just manage in their own sweet way….continue to watch this space if you wish to know if my living room is habitable by Saturday when we hope to return home 🍁🍄🌿☘️
Comments still off till I get home where there is WiFi that can deal with the colossus that is Flickr….
