I was focusing on my favorite convenience store to photograph and I saw a biker coming into the frame and I decided to include him in the composition. I was really happy with the results even though the punctum of this photograph —what Roland Barthes defines as the aspect of an image that moves a viewer in a deep or emotional way— was intended to be the dimly lit Parklaine Variety sign.
This is the beauty of photography; one often arrives with a specific goal in mind but it is often the accidents or unplanned events that make an image stand out.
Antwerp is the perfect city for just wandering aimlessly about with a camera to see what you can find....
Moraine Lake is a stunning Alpine lake in the Canadian Rockies. The blue colour of the lake is due to the presence of "rock flour", a very fine dust produced from the grinding of rocks by glacial action.
An atmosphere imbued with melancholy and timeless charm.
Une ambiance empreinte de mélancolie et de charme intemporel.
The mysterious figure is a reflection of the statue of Isaak Walton, the author of "The Compleat Angler" which was first published in 1653 as a guide to the "art and spirit" of angling.
The statue is located on "Chocolate Island" in the Kennet and Avon canal, so called because this is where Huntley and Palmer stored chocolate for use in biscuit production. The factory was located roughly where the buildings on the right of the image are. Production of biscuits was ceased in 1976. The statue of Isaak Walton was erected in 1992.
I've collected a few strawberries that the critters didn't eat from the plant our neighbors gave us when we moved in last summer.
I'm ready for Fall weather.
View of Ghent from close to St Michaels Bridge showing the three medieval towers overlooking the city. In the far distance is the tower of St Bavo's cathedral. Next, in roughly the centre of the picture is the Belfry of Ghent and then closest to us is the tower of the Church of St Nicholas.

"The Museum aan de Stroom (MAS) is a museum located along the river Scheldt in the Eilandje district of Antwerp, Belgium. It opened in May 2011 and is the largest museum in Antwerp.
The 60-metre-high MAS was designed by Neutelings Riedijk Architects. The façade is made of Indian red sandstone and curved glass panel construction. It is an example of postmodern Art Deco architecture.
The central focus of the MAS is Antwerp and its connection to the world. The MAS collection ranges from maritime objects which document international trade and shipping, to the history, art and culture of the port city of Antwerp and to art and culture from Europe, Africa, America, Asia and Oceania.
