Frontman of Deer Tick, one of my favorite bands. I interviewed him after the show, these guys live a tiring life on the road. Great band, great guys.
For Brooklyn musician Will Jarrett, the open road and sweaty clubs are the only home he’s ever known. But after his drummer gets pregnant and his long-time band breaks up, Will, now on the wrong side of thirty, struggles to define what matters more to him: the pursuit of an increasingly unlikely dream, or the family life he watches those around him embrace and which he recognizes the potential for with Leah, a realtor at loose ends about the path her own life has taken. After booking an opening slot for a rising New York band, Will takes one last shot at making it as he’s forced to reconcile what success means to him… and if there comes a time when dreams must end.
“Jon Frechette vividly depicts the life of Will Jarrett, an aging but aspiring Brooklyn musician, as he confronts the choice between his passion or the pursuit of family life. When Will connects with a woman who also questions what success and happiness means to her, he is forced to reconcile that one’s dreams can change with the passage of time. Through Will’s struggles with love, friendship, and his own ambitions, Frechette composes a moving and thought-provoking portrait of early adulthood that lingers long after the final page.”

This Beautiful Republic is AMAZING!! They are equally amazing live, as well.
They are my favorite band (pretty much since I heard their first song) , so to go see them live was literally necessary. I am so glad I went.
And yeah, it was at a full-blown concert. I was so blessed to be able to get as close as I did. In fact, during a song, Ben paused his singing (like he normally would during that part of the song for the guitar/drum solo), and I literally reached up and gave him a pat on the shoulder.
After the show, I went up to the guys and started talking to them about pretty much everything. During conversation, my passion for photography came up and they requested to see some of the photos from the show. The one's I've uploaded here to flickr are the one's I sent to them.
I LOVE the way this turned out! I'm glad I got him to stay still for a few moments. :)
My other favorite!

"Good Vibes For Terri" - a benefit gig for 'godfather of punk' Terri Hooley. Terri founded the Good Vibrations record label and record store back in the 70s and had his life story told in the film of the same name in 2013.
Before Christmas 2014 Terri was taken ill and has been hospitalised for the forseeable future. Many of Terri's friends put together a benefit concert for him at the Limelight Belfast on Sunday 28 December 2014.

ANNB (Alva Noto + Blixa Bargeld) (DE)
Einstürzende Neubauten meets Raster_Noton or: Neubauten frontman Blixa Bargeld meets Raster_Noton chief Alva Noto (Carsten Nicolai). Bargeld and Nicolai have been a 'fan' of each other's work for a while now. They've been working together on various projects since '07 but it was only last year that the duo finally got around to creating something to leave for heredity, together. Result: the album 'Mimikry' on which Bargeld's penetrating voice (sometimes screaming, sometimes crooning) perfectly blends with Carsten Nicolai's minimal electronica. Alva Noto has worked previously with the likes of Ryuichi Sakamoto, Mika Vainio and also Michael Nyman. Following a unique two-dayer with Neubauten, last year celebrating their 30 year existence, now Bargeld is to be experienced in a unique collaboration with visionary electronica artist Alva Noto.

News of Boney M frontman Bobby Farrell’s death saddens me. I was 7 and living in Hong Kong when their huge hit Daddy Cool came out in 1978. My father loved their songs and I hated the group, probably because I was simply scared by people who didn’t look like "one of us". But, like many others, I grew into my dad’s mindset without even knowing. Recently I came across vintage footages of their performance and I simply fell in love with them!
Their catchy songs, music and lyrics are no longer scary. Their outfits and hairdos are still outrageous and crazy, but way cool! I now only wish that I can sing and dance like they did!

This was a VERY impromptu gig in a bondage/ fetish shop in Glasgow a couple years back after the planned venue got flooded. Lucky for us because this was a cracking gig played with My Revenge! from New York. Shot on Ilford XP2 on my trusty Pentax. Roddy is a dynamo frontman and throws up some top photo opportunities, I'm amazed I got a decent one without flash.
