For this front light image, I shot this when it was cloudy so there were no shadows or light. My goal was to make the flat.

In Duchemin's reading, it says with front light, there are no shadows to create textures. Light is reflected and colors are fine, but they could be more alive. That's how I feel about this image, that it could be more alive.

I removed some wording on a building behind the subject because it was distracting to me. I turned down the contrast just a little to keep it flat. I then used the dodge tool at 30% on his face and neck to lighten it up.

This photo was intended to be a front-lit closeup of a plant called Teasel. Duchemin says that front light is good for getting your bearings and catching shots focused more on the subject than the lighting. I think I accomplished that using a combination of natural light and shallow depth of field. This was cropped and has slightly boosted contrast, but otherwise edits are minimal.
