Mardi Gras 2016 - New Orleans

For anyone who doesn't understand the nature of the Mardi Gras beast- these are shots of the cleanup crews in action. A remarkable thing to see, too! Lots of people hang around just to watch the incredible job they do!

It's not just the crowds that generate trash- consider the fact that each float is tossing tons of stuff! Plastic cups, trinkets, beads, stuffed animals, frisbees, but there are also the bags that the throws come in and everything in between that goes over the side of a float!

It is just how it is, so while it may seem awful, take a second look- the clean-up crews rake and sweep and gather trash, frontend loaders pick up the trash and load it onto dump trucks to be hauled away, and then the sweepers come along and EVERYTHING is cleaner than most city streets on a normal day!

And this happens at the end of EVERY parade day; when the last parade of the route rolls, the cleanup crews follow closely behind, and when you hear the horns blaring after the last float has passed, you had better grab you stuff and get it off the curb because you have to be BACK and out of the way!

The haze you can see in some of these shots is dust from the crew raking up trash furiously, and sometimes, the haze is about humidity as the cleanup equipment sprays the streets down with water for cleaning! :)

The front end needs work...

I've tried to ID this front end to no avail. Anyone know? Care to take a guess?

Here, we can see straight back to the meat department, where the orange panels are more remnants of the 70s Colonial decor; seeing these orange panels is common in old abandoned Acmes (or was, before they started tearing them down).

This is what the front of the engine should look like at this point. I have labeled the various components for clarity.

(Note: I labeled both cam pulleys as RH...just disregard. The RH pulley is on the left in this view).

The front end you'll find four tables primarily used for wedding consults. Its not rare when we have all four going. Its fun when the brides can share their plans with other brides. The front end is used for people to come in to just enjoy a slice with coffee if they choose to eat in.

Now that we've got plenty of upgrades in and on the back (for now), let's cheer up the front as well!

In this box we find two yellow foglights (Which I could not find at Citro Classica, but I did score at the British Car Club Day...) As well as my brand new yet classic French/Italian style airhorn. (which I simply ordered online)

Obviously I completely underestimated the time required to get this stuff installed, but hey... The Barn and I are going to be together for a while longer after all... So we've got some time to get this stuff sorted!

Frontend of the Prontor-SVS shutter.

I noticed that there where already some marks on the middletube.

This shutter had problems with the slow times, the self-timer and the fact that sometimes the cocking-level stuck halfway after release.
