Some images seem to have it all......a perfect location, in good light, caught at just the decisive moment. This very original photograph was taken just prior to the start of the 2010 (40th Annual) Gay Pride Parade on Market Street in San Francisco, California. San Francisco throws one of the more colorful and prominent Gay Pride festivals in the world. The City has a rich and lengthy history of gay rights.

Farm Fresh #6272 (64,157 square feet)
1200 N Military Highway, Norfolk, VA
This location opened in 1999 and closed in May 2018; it was originally a Hechinger, which was built and opened in 1979 and closed in summer 1992. It became a Rack & Sack in spring 1993. The building was split into two tenants after Farm Fresh closed, with AutoZone opening in one part on July 12th, 2021 and Iron Asylum Warehouse Gym opening in the other on May 17th, 2022.

It's fresh new year and I looking back on all that 2010 brought and excited to see what 2011 brings. I'll be doing a 52 week project with a 'things I love' theme. I'm hoping I can build on all the things I learned this past year.

At 20ft x 10ft, this is the biggest canvas I have painted to date.
It was for Fresh ‘97 which was arguably the best hiphop event ever to take place in the UK, at least since the 80’s. I’ll post more images from the event and go into what made it so special in future posts.
It was painted free-hanging and I could only get a few steps back from it while working so the first time I got to see it was when it was unrolled at the venue.
While I was critiquing it, a unique type of voice rolled out from behind me, “Yo man, that’s tight“. It was Chali 2na from Jurassic 5 who were performing in the UK for the first time. I got on great with them and we had a really good laugh during the event.
We took Nu-Mark out to sample the ghetto end of British beer (I arranged a taste test of Tennant’s Super, Special Brew etc so he could compare them to malt liquor over in the States). I had a minor beef with Akil because I dropped, “More like back stage arse than back stage pass” at some groupie he was chatting. “You didn’t have to go there”, he kept saying over and over.
He was right, I didn’t have to. But I often did!
I was getting some pressure to do a stereotypical hiphop jam crowd scene - classic Mode 2 territory - a bit of a cliche going all the way back to the Mantronik “Needle to the Groove” cover and most likely way before that even.
However, I wanted to try to do something a bit different plus having done a site visit, I realised that the crowd would have been so far back from it that the detail would have been lost. Therefore I decided to do big 10ft high figures in a clean, flat style. However, the canvas proportions were wrong so the DJ ended up being relegated to the background which I wasn’t happy about. All the elements are represented though.
If I have a seafood restaurant, I'd totally put this on my billboard with the words "fresh from the source". And I'd totally pay the $200 the photographer of this pic will charge me :) .
Pair of Shishi (Japanese Foo Dogs) tattooed on my shoulder this afternoon at the Star of Texas Tattoo Art Revival 2009 in Austin, TX. Hector Fong of Rock of Ages Tattoo was the artist. Total time in the chair was less then 4 hours. Probably another 3 to go.

Fresh BX T1+ / #legobyjosh / 2021
🇬🇧From the beginning, I designed the Fresh BX T1 + ("Blessed Xmas") as a special for the Dakar Rally. I have built several cars on this topic. My great inspiration last year was the Hunter model, which was developed for the BRX racing team by the British Prodrive factory. From the photos and videos they shared during the year developing the new Hunter model, I studied the overall design of the car, the sophisticated tubular frame and roll cage, the carbon pilot capsule, the 3L V6 engine and especially the fascinating body design. I finally transformed all this and much more into my own Fresh BX T1 + model within 4 nights.
It helped me a lot that several of my previous models, such as "Supay" or "Child of the Sea", were not cars and I was able to verify some of the procedures that were essential for me when creating the BX. At this point, I would like to thank the designers, whose work is a liberating inspiration for me, and friends with whom I was able to share the entire construction process to the finished model.

🇨🇿 Fresh BX T1+ („Blessed Xmas“) jsem od začátku koncipoval jako speciál pro Rally Dakar. Na toto téma jsem postavil už několik aut. Mou velkou inspirací byl už vloni model Hunter, který pro závodní tým BRX vyvinula britská továrna Prodrive. Z fotek a videí, které v průběhu roku sdíleli, když vyvíjeli nový model Hunteru, jsem studoval celkovou konstrukci auta, důmyslný trubkový rám a roll cage, karbonovou pilotní kapsli, 3L V6 motor a zejména fascinující design karoserie. To vše a mnohem víc jsem nakonec transformoval během 4 nocí do vlastního modelu Fresh BX T1+.
Velmi mi pomohlo, že několik mých předchozích modelů jako „Supay“ nebo „Child of the Sea“, nebyly auta a mohl jsem si na nich ověřit některé postupy, které pro mne byly zásadní při tvorbě BX. Rád bych na tomto místě poděkoval designérům, jejichž práce je pro mne osvobozující inspirací a přátelům, se kterými jsem mohl sdílet celý proces stavění až k hotovému modelu.

Fresh tracks were so easy to find. It was very rare we ever skied a line in which we could see any of our other lines, but the powder here was so darn good, we had to revisit this section. Amazing skiing!

This is a classic view of Emerald Falls on Gorton Creek in the Columbia River Gorge.
After a day up at Columbia Hills State Park, I decided it was time for a change in scenery before heading home. So we I crossed the river into Hood River, grabbed a bite to eat and then visited Gorton Creek before heading home. It is always worth the stop to see this place. :)

I don't know the origin of this plate. I may have picked it up at the Goodwill. It is real chinaware. It was made in China!
New record for a still life: I took only two shots. This was the second. (But then I started messing around with edge effects and shading.)
Just took my eyes off the falcons for about 10 seconds, and they were gone; within 1 minutes, the female came back with this grebe.

Anyone who knows me knows that I cannot stand going into Walmart. It gives me quite a bit of anxiety just because of how large it is and I feel like I get judged there due to the people who go to the one back home. However I am so glad I went! While Tamra isn’t the main Fresh Doll I want I still couldn’t pass her up!
