Five Steps to Organize Your Work From Home Tasks

rosaliemaclang.wixsite.com/virtualservices

Organizing your work from home tasks is imperative to your productivity because if you manage the tasks well, you will avoid not meeting deadlines. You get anxious, you can’t concentrate, and everything seems to distract you. That’s what you always feel distracted if you have so much to do and you only have limited time.

Also, organizing work from home tasks is an essential part of your freelancing success. The effectiveness and efficiency of your remote working career rely on how well you manage your work-from-home tasks. But, how to stay on top of your work from home tasks? Here are five steps to helping you become more productive in your remote working career.

1. List all tasks you need to do for the day.

You must list all the tasks you need to accomplish to avoid unproductivity and forgetting essential tasks. You can use a pen and paper to record your duties, or you can also use any tool on your computer.

2. Categorize your tasks using Eisenhower’s Urgent/Important Principle

One of the most effective techniques that successful freelancers use to organize their work from home tasks is the famous Eisenhower’s Urgent/Important Principle. It is a principle that helps you manage your work from home to meet deadlines and improve productivity. The method required you to use the four directions: important and urgent, important and not urgent, not essential and critical, and not necessary and not urgent.

3. Tackle Tasks using this Principle and avoid distractions

When you have already listed your work from home tasks, categorize them using the four principles and ensure not to get distracted. What are these distractions anyway? These are the tasks that are not related to your remote working jobs; this can be scrolling on your social media, watching Netflix, or even chatting with anyone.

4. Take breaks

Taking breaks is imperative to your freelancing career because it will refresh your mind; thus, it will improve productivity, especially if you’re working longer hours. Also, your eyes need a break for you to keep balance and for you to be even more productive. You can either have 3 hours of work with a 1-hour interval or 90 minutes of work with 30 minutes break; it depends on what suits you.

5. Evaluate at the end of the day

Evaluating at the end of the day is essential because it will show whether you met your deadlines or not. To do the evaluation, you need to list all the tasks that are not completed and categorize them again for you to fulfill the next day. Using Eisenhower’s Urgent/Important Principle in managing your time and organizing work from home will help you quickly identify the activities you should focus on and those you should ignore.

Before starting my journey in freelancing, I worked as customer service rep in several call center companies but decided to change my career path as I was having difficulty traveling to and fro and because of the time constraints that I have to be on the road every day, rain or shine due to graveyard shift. I, then decided, to find work online and be a work-at-home mom.
