This painting is the representation a very common issue of Cuba during Fidel Castro’s regime. In their seek of freedom and better life opportunities, Cubans, will try anything in order to cross the 90 miles to reach USA. They will even transform cars and trucks into some sort of a water vehicle. Some make it, and others die on their attempt.

Soldiers of 42 Engineer Regiment (Geographic) exercise the Freedom of Newbury. The regiment, based at Hermitage since 1985, was granted the honour in 1997 and has exercised the right twice since then.

My idea of freedom is the ability to run a global business from any location in the world, from my laptop.
This is one of a series of four Norman Rockwell paintings portraying Franklin D. Roosevelt’s “Four Freedoms”. While the socialist philosophy behind Roosevelt’s ideas is deeply mistaken, the “four freedoms” certainly represent ideals that we as free Americans (and presumably all people) strive to attain. What you can’t see in this image is the headline on the paper, which can be partially read on the original painting: “Bombing…Horror”. I think the sentiment communicated by this image is familiar to every parent. Seeing it makes me think of my own children and why I am here.
