* This sculpture is so sweet. When seen from the street it looks like there are 4 figures breaking free from the "clay". The best part is when you look closely at it. There are hundreds of small details, bodies, faces, animals, tools, etc... carved into the sculpture. Sad part is that this sits on a street corner hardly anyone ever walks by or even notices. Take time to see it if you are in Philly. Luckily, my hotel was right next to it and made for an easy visit early in the morning. This sculptor, Zenos Frudakis, also did the statues around Citizens Bank Park of Mike Schmidt, Richie Ashburn and Steve Carlton. Some really great work.

The 2009 Lenexa Freedom Run was held Friday, July 4th in Historic Old Town Lenexa.

The 5K winners were Clifton Campbell of Laporte, CO with a time of 15:43 and

Kristen Gillespie of Shawnee Mission, KS with a time of 18:12.

The 10K winners were Bret Imgrund of Shawnee Mission, KS with a time of 31:42 and Laura Eakin of Commerce City, CO with a time of 39:15.

A Baton Rouge tradition on the Fourth of July. Before the fireworks, before the barbecue, come out to Downtown Baton Rouge to take part in a series of point-to-point one-mile races. Take the bus down to the start and race it back, to finish in front of the old state capitol.
