Back to the torso and legs! After stitching the torso closed, do not cut the yarn but begin the first leg by stitching in one loop only of the first five sc, then turn and stitch in the remaining loop of the same stitches. This is like working the Free Spirit and Mini Free Spirit body and leg backward.

The last round of the leg is worked in the back loop only, leaving the front loops free to make the feet, just like the mini free spirit.

Here is the second leg begun. The most difficult part of crocheting this little doll is the second leg! The first leg keeps getting in the way.

After the legs are complete, cut a length of pipe cleaner twice the length of each leg. Fold in half and twist the halves together. Insert into the opening at the bottom of the leg, then sew the bottom closed, sewing in the back loops only. No stuffing is needed for the legs, or the arms, for that matter.

All done except the trimmings! She is about seven inches tall, and crocheted from Patons Astra, a light worsted weight (or heavy sportweight) yarn.

The third row is the armhole dividing row. For this example, I worked six sc, then crocheted four links and skipped eight sc, then worked 12 sc (the front), crocheted four links, skipped eight sc, and sc in the last six stitches.

Actually, this turned out to be 44 sc, so I will work another row of sc and decrease by four stitches.

A second row of sc worked at the top of the lace, to end up with 40 sc. This will fit slightly loose under the Spirits underarms.

I might be wrong but are these depressions in the sand caused by Stingrays' sitting on the sand trying to dislodge marine animals which they can then catch and eat.

In the last few weeks there have been images in the local press of hundreds of Stingrays in aggregations on sandflats in Wallis Lake. They are apparently referred to as a 'fever of Stingrays'.

For a doll this tiny, crochet and assembly order is important. Crochet the arms first, installing the shoulder joint eyes after the first three rounds are complete.

Crochet the head next, install the eyes after round nine is complete. Cut the yarn leaving about a yard and a half to finish crocheting the head closed AFTER it has been jointed to the neck. Set the head aside

Crochet the first four rounds of the neck and insert the acrylic eye into the neck with the post sticking out. Place the head onto the post, then push the collar onto the post inside the head. Push hard! and seat the collar as far down as it will go.

This was an art installation in front of the Royal BC Museum. It features famous (or infamous) BCers, I guess.
