Super late posting lol, been gone for awhile. After a week in San Jose, Costa Rica, we stayed a week in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in April 2024. This was our 1st visit to the country. Sad to say, we weren't impressed. After our tour in Centro Comercial Colon, we took a long hot walk and almost got hit crossing the street in crazy DR traffic. Monumento Fray Antonio de Montesino caught my eye while near Playa Montesinos.

Thats what we are. We're unable to hold ourselves together.
We physically and mentally do not have the strength to do it.
What have we become? Where has our innocence and childhood gone?
What is innocence nowadays? We're are exposed to things they shouldn't have to deal with until later in life.
Is it so hard to be who we truly are without the judgement? Without the hatred?
When will we truly figure out who we are and what our purpose is?
I know that you're hurting. Because I am hurting too.
I am worn. My heart strings are frayed. My emotions are damaged. My life is broken.
We pray, to Him for help.
We ask, for forgiveness.
We beg, for a new beginning.
Yet despite how hard we try to feel whole again, it never ends up working out the way we plan.
We are all alone in our world. We are born as individuals and we die as individuals. Despite how much we need people in our life, and despite how much they may stick by our side. We die as sole beings.
And nothing can stop that.
For me, I feel as if I was born alone, and not only that I am now dying alone, but that I am living alone.
And it hurts more than anything ever has.

Saint Junípero Serra y Ferrer OFM (1713-1784) has had his statues vandalized in some locations by people who blame him for the suppression of their ancestral culture by the immigrants and missionaries. This one, at the San Luis Obispo mission, looked OK.
William H Hannon and his Foundation placed dozens of these statues at missions and all over the country. The artist is Dale Smith.
William H Hannon (1913-1999) was a Los Ángeles real estate developer and philanthropist. He is reported to have said, “Father Serra was the first developer of California.”

He is with a boy of the Juaneño or Acjachemen indigenous people of California, enslaved by the Spanish in 1776. This is not meant as a political or religious commentary.
