About the image:

I went back to Miller's Pond for more Muscovy duck shots. I'm surprised they aren't camera shy! I was able to get very close with my ultra wide angle lens which allowed me to capture not just the duck but the fall foliage too! I love this shot!

I gotta spend time with my wifey today. Have a nice day folks!

So proud of our good friend Matt Horowitz, who was profiled in the Santa Fe New Mexican this weekend. Matt is the director of conservation at Goldleaf Framemakers, and has collaborated with us on our Collector's Forum workshops. Check our Facebook page for a link to the story by Chris Quintana.

Well, I motored down to Greensboro to see my old boss John Fisher and pick up some frames from my framemaker, strong-gripped ninety-years-old Henry Kendall. We had some time to kill before we went over to the church (John's trying to make a Baptist out of me) so we checked out a few antique stores. These are (some of) what I found. Two are English, three are from North Carolina, and one, unidentified, but it sure looks more Tarheel than Brit.

Ever tried doing the right thing but end up screwing your life?Everything just comes crashing down. I never learn and I don't know what to do anymore. This might be the end for Flickr for me for now. I just lost all drive and I've stashed away my camera gear. Maybe I'll pick it up again tomorrow or maybe next year. Knowing myself though, I'll be back in a few days. I just don't feel good right now. I broke my phone's lcd so I can't be reached at the moment. Does anybody have an old nokia I can buy?

About the image. I took a couple of shots with different exposures (6?) and also used ND8 + polarizer to slow down shutter speed. I wanted to shoot at 12mm but the stack of filters left a prominent vignette on the image.

I haven't used Photomatix for a long time but they had an upgrade recently and I kinda like it. It's easier to use and produces more natural looking images. Still, the final product depends on the user's preference.

Shot at f/22 to put everything in focus. I chose this spot because everything points to the horizon to the left where the water joins the ocean.

I REALLY had a good time that day. Thank you so much my friends.

My mom's NY visit is coming to an end. She has to go home to take care of two critters -- my son Brian Justin and my niece Sofia. How I want to go back home for a visit but I find it expensive for now.

This was taken late in the afternoon, with the sun out of sight and rain clouds all over the sky -- almost perfect overcast for portraiture. I let her do what she wants with occasional direction from me. This is really just my second try at portraiture. I've done tons of nature shots so hopefully I will try my hand on more outdoor portraits next. I set Auto ISO on so the camera will shoot at low ISO unless it needs to bump it up when light goes too low. Some of my shots are taken in manual mode (I was experimenting on exposure). Handheld, 70-200mm VR 2.8 lens.

If anyone happens to be in or near Kings Park, drop by for a visit and maybe we can do a portrait or two. :)

they say that images should be broken up into 3rds ... I'm thinking this one is broken up into 3rds in the distance dimension :)

Want to give our new friend, Bill Taylor at the Framemakers in Waterville a big shout out of thanks for his generous donation of frames and supplies for the ROAR artists! "This is a great project and I want to support it as often as I can."

Bill, as many of you may know, is the designer of a phenomenal creation called a "Cosmic Modulator" which renders the reflection of its contents to infinity. You have to see each one of a kind box to believe it! Go!

Two jigsaws cut by WG Barton, of Ravensdale, Old Bushey, Herts. (These are the only two in my records.)

Centre Right: WG Barton 80pc Summer Flower Garden, 3repl, image possibly 1889, unsold Feb 2021.

Left Half, including diagonal: WG Barton 252pc Old Tapestry 12x13in or 11x12in, sold in Aug 2015 by stgenix (resold Feb 2020, when I bought it). (The photos are from different dates) An interesting loopy longarm cut. Stgenix said the print was from the CE Clifford Gallery. Could WG Barton be the cutter of the loopy CE Clifford jigsaws?

Bottom Centre & Right: Two examples of jigsaws made for CE Clifford & Co Ltd, Picture Restorers, Carvers, Guilders, Print Sellers, Publishers & Framemakers, of 12 Bury St, St James' London SW which are not cut in the smooth push-fit style of William Peacock. The cuts are interesting with rounded longarms and include line-cutting and traces of interrupted edges.

CE Clifford & Co Ltd An Old Time Encounter by Gilbert S Wright, 51x31cm, sold July 2014.

CE Clifford & Co Ltd 173pc Harfleur by WJ Ayling, 7.5x10in, sold Aug 2015.

Francois is from the Cameroon and speaks English with a heavy French accent. Deals in frames and stuff and he was prepared to ship anywhere. There a lot of shops in the area selling these made from recycled or distressed wood I found out later.

These kitties were playing with each other, one prowling the other. I wouldn't want to be in the middle of these two! They're look adorable though.
