This beautiful Giant Swallowtail butterfly was missing half of one wing. How they survive at all is amazing ... God's beautiful creation out front in God's garden.
We found these small ink cap mushrooms growing almost daily in the compost we bought for our tomato plants. They grew from a tiny sphere on the compost to a mature (though small) mushroom and dissolved into black mush in less than 24 hours. The wafer thin caps, when fully open, measured about 1.5 cm in diameter and disintegrated if they were touched.
I pulled this mushroom up by the stalk and placed it upside down on white paper so that the black gills would be clearly visible in the photo.

Clusters of white, pantaloon-shaped flowers on a leafless stalk above much-divided, feathery, basal leaves; tubers pinkish. Range from Manitoba east to Nova Scotia, south to Georgia, west to Mississipi and Oklahoma, and north to North Dacota; also in Washington, Idaho, and Oregon; also in Pacific Nothwest. The flowers are pollinated by bumblebees, whose proboscises are long enough to tap the nectar.
Barely you touch the tender floor,
The silk beneath your footsteps rings,
And from your head down to your core,
You float like dreams on fragile wings
I couldn't resist the angles and the textures of the walk way. Then there was an ideal subject, The Leaf still beautiful, Golden but Fragile.
Hidden lagoons in Chile’s Atacama Desert, rimmed with salt and glowing turquoise under the driest sky on Earth. These pools are shrinking as groundwater is tapped for lithium extraction—another reminder that fragile desert ecosystems need careful water stewardship. Shot near San Pedro de Atacama (Lagunas Escondidas).
"I was thinking it’s beautiful that where my fingers end
there would have to begin, in some way or other, a guitar.
And then seated in the midst of your goodbyes,
I felt less tired than you,
I was much less tired than you..."
