The Global Project Logistics Network (GPLN), the world's largest and best known logistics network exclusively for independent project forwarding and project chartering companies, recently held their 7th global meeting at the JW Marriott Rio de Janeiro on Copacobana Beach in Brazil.
Some highlights of the meeing:
1) This was the first meeting that GPLN has hosted in the Americas
(past meetings having been in Dublin, Bangkok, Dubai, Prague, Kuala Lumpur
and Tunis);
2) Ninety-two participants attended from every continent of the world;
3) Sponsorship participants included Rickmers-Linie, Beluga Chartering
and Walenius Wilhelmsen Logistics Brasil; and
4) This meeting was also a celebration of GPLN's fifth anniversary of
existence.
"There were lots of new faces on hand and many older ones as well," said
Gary Dale Cearley, Executive Director of GPLN, "This made the meeting
interesting all around the attending delegates. New contacts were made and
older ones solidified which will greatly improve the projects pipelines of
all members who took part."

The Reverend Hugh Humphreys was the son of William Humphreys of Ballyhaise House, Co. Cavan born 10th November 1838 at Cavan. Formerly a Captain in the Royal Irish Fusiliers and a Major of Cavan Infantry Militia. He was Ordained as a Deacon (Ossory) in 1885 and a priest in 1886.
He married Louisa Charlotte Catherine Evans-Lombe on 27th April 1875 at St Peter Eaton Square, Middlesex.

In 2011 we were in Lisbon, Portugal, at the Marriott Lisbon to meet. Several good discussions took place, new relationships were started and old relationships were cemented. This is what networking is about! But beyond this we enjoyed one another's company and the beautiful surroundings provided by the city around us. We were truly lucky to have this time together.

A few weeks ago, I saw an interesting craft segment on the Martha Stewart Show, as I was fast-forwarding through one of my recorded episodes. It was for a No-Sew Tote Bag, and the results shown on the episode were quite cute. I decided that I wanted to try making one, at least to see if the concept really works.
Since I've been traveling and otherwise occupied on recent weekends, this was my first opportunity to try the project, and I spent part of yesterday picking up all the supplies, including the fabric, handle material, iron-on vinyl, and colored duct tape. Yes, you read that correctly. Add one more thing to the infinite number of uses of duct tape.
The bag is actually held together by staples (lots and lots of staples - this bag isn't going through the magnetometer at the airport undetected) and duct tape (to cover and further secure all the seams created by the staples).
The instructions were quite easy to understand, and after a problem with the stapler (operator error), the bag came together nicely.
I tried carrying a few things around in it, and thus far it seems like it is holding up well. I don't know that I would try carrying a huge sack of potatoes in this, but for craft supplies or a small grocery load or similar items, I think this bag will work nicely!
