Soldaten en volgers in vol ornaat maken hun opwachting in Bathmen. De werkgroep 'Bathmen spant de kroon' heeft samen met diverse groepen van de Napoleontische Associatie der Nederlanden een definitief programma samengesteld voor het nu snel naderende Winterbivak.
In 1995 vond de herbeleving van de Slag bij Waterloo plaats. Een aantal verenigingen uit Nederland heeft hieraan deelgenomen en heeft tijdens het evenement met elkaar samengewerkt. Op deze manier konden de verenigingen elkaar versterken en de activiteiten beter op elkaar afstemmen. Na de goede samenwerking werd besloten om de Napoleontische Associatie der Nederlanden (NAN) op te richten.
De NAN concentreert zich vooral op levende geschiedenis, ook wel re-enactment genoemd. De groepen geven het publiek een inzicht in hoe soldaten toen leefden en werkten, maar ook hoe het leven binnen de Lage en Gegoede Burgerij er uit zag.
Inmiddels is de NAN uitgegroeid tot 19 aangesloten verenigingen met een totaal van 320 individuele leden.
Voor allen geldt dat kwaliteit en veiligheid hoog in het vaandel staan.

Breitling Wingwalker enjoys performing her breathtaking routine of acrobatics aboard a Boeing PT-17 Stearman, while another closes towards her, with a combined closing speed of up to 300 mph.
As 2016 slips silently into the past I'll look forward to the coming year and hope that it treats every kindly!! Thanks again for all of your support and the many wonderful comments!! 2017 will come in like a lion for us!! We live in an unincorporated area and the neighbors will be intent once again on blowing up our usually quiet neighborhood with fireworks!! I don't mind them so much when they are still exploding at 3 am it gets to be a bit much!!
We'll lead off the New Year with one of my little green buddies!! I realize there's not a lot of green showing in this shot but it really is tough to capture those greens when he's standing on top of you and threatening to take you camera unless you give him a fish!! Luckily for me he bit on the snack bar and the bottle of Gatorade! A very friendly guy here and not the least bit intimidated by my presence!! Photo taken on Horsepen Bayou!

Brad's flying his powered paraglider over Black Rock City at sunset.
Not sure if this flight was very "legal", since the air-space above Black Rock City was very regulated this year (drones not allowed to fly without a permit). But we saw several BLM and Sheriff cars drive by, and none of the officers cared about Brad and his powered paraglider taking off from the playa!

I haven't been able to go out with my camera lately due to a sick cat I've been nursing, so I've been going through old memory cards finding things that I didn't process before.
This is a small part of a pod of pelicans that swooped down out of the sky and very cooperatively splashed down right in front of me, and then quickly arranged themselves in tight marching formation and swam past me like soldiers passing in review. So, I marched them through Topaz Impressions to make them presentable for Sliders Sunday.
