The Roman Forum (Latin: Forum Romanum, Italian: Foro Romano) is a rectangular forum (plaza) surrounded by the ruins of several important ancient government buildings at the center of the city of Rome. Citizens of the ancient city referred to this space, originally a marketplace, as the Forum Magnum, or simply the Forum.
It was for centuries the center of Roman public life: the site of triumphal processions and elections; the venue for public speeches, criminal trials, and gladiatorial matches; and the nucleus of commercial affairs. Here statues and monuments commemorated the city's great men. The teeming heart of ancient Rome, it has been called the most celebrated meeting place in the world, and in all history.
Located in the small valley between the Palatine and Capitoline Hills, the Forum today is a sprawling ruin of architectural fragments and intermittent archaeological excavations attracting 4.5 million sightseers yearly.

The Roman Forum, sometimes known by its original Latin title, Forum Romanum, is located between the Palatine hill and the Capitoline hill of the city of Rome. It is the central area around which the ancient Roman civilization developed. Citizens referred to the location as the "Forum Magnum" or just the "Forum".
The oldest and most important structures of the ancient city are located in the forum, including its ancient former royal residency the Regia and the surrounding complex of the Vestal virgins. The Old Republic had its formal Comitium there where the senate, as well as Republican government began. The forum served as a city square and central hub where the people of Rome gathered for justice, and faith. The forum was also the economic hub of the city and considered to be the center of the Republic and Empire.
Rome, Italy.
Forum des Halles was a shopping mall in central Paris ( 1º arrondissement) built largely underground and directly connected to the RER and métro transit system. In the years 2010-2016 Forum des Halles was thoroughly redesigned and transformed into a cultural centre. Most of its old structures were demolished, so the stairs depicted on this photo don´t exist anymore.

This forum was built on the order of the emperor Trajan with the spoils of war from the conquest of Dacia,
the Forum was inaugurated in 112.
To build this monumental complex, extensive excavations were required: workers eliminated the sides of the Quirinal and Capitoline (Campidoglio) Hills, which closed the valley occupied by the Imperial forums toward the Campus Martius
This is a shot I have had hanging around since my Italy adventure last year. After very hot day in Rome we ended up by the Forum as the sun was setting. This is the most amazing place, I had seen many pictures of it but none do it justice. The size and scale of the buildings just leaves you staring in wonder.
