Ein Tag in Rom! Mit der Bahn sind wir von San Vincenzo gegen sechs Uhr am Morgen nach Rom gefahren und am Abend wieder zurück. Ein anstrengender Tag an dem wir auch das Forum Romanum besucht haben. Auf der Rückfahrt nach San Vincenzo hielt unser Zug im Bahnhof Vatikan Stadt fast vier Stunden. Den Grund für den langen Aufenthalt in der Station haben wir nicht erfahren.

A day in Rome! We took the train from San Vincenzo to Rome around six in the morning and back in the evening. A strenuous day on which we also visited the Forum Romanum. On the way back to San Vincenzo our train stopped at Vatican City station for almost four hours. We did not find out the reason for the long stay in the station.

Une journée à Rome ! Nous avons pris le train de San Vincenzo à Rome vers six heures du matin et sommes revenus le soir. Une journée éprouvante au cours de laquelle nous avons également visité le Forum Romanum. Sur le chemin du retour vers San Vincenzo, notre train s'est arrêté à la gare du Vatican pendant près de quatre heures. Nous n'avons pas trouvé la raison de ce long séjour dans la station.

Das fünfgeschossige Forum Confluentes mit Triangel-Grundriss, eint auf einer Nutzfläche von 12.250 m² die Stadtbibliothek, die Räume des Mittelrhein-Museums sowie das Romanticum – eine Touristeninfo mitsamt Ausstellung zum Weltkulturerbe Oberes Mittelrheintal.

Around the middle of the second century BC, all of Greece had been swallowed up by the Roman Empire. And from the start, the Romans actively "romanised" the country in terms of political structure, architecture, and an extensive road building programme (for example the "Via Egnatia", connecting Rome with Thessaloniki). The Forum they built in Thessaloniki, or better say the remnants of it, can now be found about 5m below. Shown here is the bouleuterion, where the city or provincial council would meet (and it was a proper building with a roof, not an open air theatre). Leica M8, Voigtlaender 34/1.4.
A general view of the forum before it became really busy. We arrived at 8.30am just as it opened to the public so it wasn't too crowded! By 10am when we left though the place was packed so get there early. The outstanding features here would be the arch of Titus and the Senate House. The smoke in the sky comes from a display flight performed by the Italian airforce.

Das Forum Groningen ist ein Gebäude im Zentrum der niederländischen Stadt Groningen am Nieuwe Markt. Es ist Eigentum der Gemeinde, wird aber von der Stiftung Forum Groningen betrieben. Es beherbergt verschiedene Einrichtungen, die täglich öffentlich und zum Teil kostenlos zugänglich sind, darunter die städtische Bibliothek, die Touristeninformation VVV und die Dachterrasse, die einen Ausblick über die ganze Stadt bietet. Als kulturelles Zentrum hält das Forum außerdem Kinosäle, Veranstaltungs- und Ausstellungsräume, Cafés und ein Restaurant vor.
Das Gebäude ist 45 Meter hoch; die Nutzfläche von 17.000 m² verteilt sich auf zehn Etagen,die durch Rolltreppen miteinander verbunden sind.
Nach einer Bauzeit von über acht Jahren wurde das Forum Ende November 2019 eröffnet. Die Baukosten betrugen 76 Millionen Euro, wovon 10 Millionen von der Europäischen Union finanziert wurden.
