The 2024 Sound of Thunder was held over two days on the last weekend in February at Ruapuna, near Christchurch. The event has been run for over 40 years by the BEARS club (British European American Racing) and this year hosted a huge range of motorcycles ranging from Vintage through Classic to Modern bikes. One draw card was the appearance of the Britten celebrating 30 years since the Britten team raced at the Isle of Man. Parade laps were undertaken by Nick Jefferies who was one of the original Isle of Man riders. Another was the Moto 2 replica which was easily the loudest bike to lap Ruapuna. The great range of bikes included the Norton ES2 that holds the lap record for its class around the Isle of Man course, and some seriously quick more modern BEARS bikes and riders. These images show some of the range of motorcycles present on and off the track, all taken on the Saturday. Hopefully something here that you like the look of.
