This may look like sand dunes (reminded me of the texture of a lemon meringue pie) but it is actually one of the geological formations in Cappadocia.
Formations under storm light and clouds in Arizona at the Petrified Forest National Park. Some of these formations look like those in the Badlands of South Dakota.
A volcanic Rick formation on the fire scared east side of the San Francisco Peaks. There once was a forest here. Now it's gone.
I took a trip out to an area Northeast of Denver called Barr Lake. It is a bird and wildlife refuge. This place is surrounded by nothing but farmland. The staggering number of geese what unlike anything I had seen before.

while watching the skies for vulture activity, this v-formation cut through the sky. Ducks or geese?
The geology of this region is both simple yet bizarre. Salt can flow like a glacier. Salt of the Paradox Formation was squeezed into a dome in the Moab area, elevating the rocks above it. Arches National Park, near Moab, Utah. Many views of canyons and rock formations. Best photographs are with blue sky background!

We were in Newport to watch my oldest son run a half marathon this weekend. This morning on the beach, I found a sight I have never seen before...rows and rows of formations from the wind. Some looked just like space ships, others were spinning tops, mushrooms, pottery. It was quite a sight!!! and my son was first in his division! a fun weekend with my son, his wife and my two oldest grandkids. oh and my husband too!
